Metal Compass believes your smartphone needs a gun peripheral
There is a niche market for augmented reality shooting games on mobile devices. These games use a smartphone’s camera and accompanying software to bring actual gameplay into the real world. In an attempt to make this experience more enjoyable, a company called Metal Compass is releasing a peripheral for smartphones called the XAPPR gun.
Mass Effect 3 demo comes with temporary Xbox Live Gold subscription
Xbox Live Gold access has already been granted to everyone until February 5, but we won’t have to wait too long before free Gold access will become available again. The Mass Effect 3 demo, which will be released on February 14, will unlock Xbox Live Gold until the full game launches on March 6.
Valve has even more Team Fortress 2 content planned for 2012
Believe it or not, there is still plenty of new Team Fortress 2 content in the works. Valve has something super secret up its sleeve and it doesn’t have anything to do with hats or maps. TF2 is already free-to-play, so whatever Valve is doing may turn out to be pretty significant.
Capcom’s Resident Evil 6 strategy targets Xbox 360 owners
Sometimes videogame publishers tend to gravitate towards a certain console when promoting multiplatform games. Activision for example clearly favors the Xbox 360 with its Call of Duty games, and Ubisoft gives the PS3 a slight advantage with the Assassin’s Creed franchise. For Resident Evil 6, Capcom will show special attention to the Xbox 360 crowd.
An EA game without an Online Pass? Madness!
Syndicate will not require EA’s Online Pass when it is released. This is somewhat unusual since EA tends to tie its Online Pass into its multiplayer (and single-player) games. With Syndicate, EA Partners wants everyone to experience Syndicate‘s cooperative multiplayer mode regardless of whether they purchase the game new or used.
