GTA III’s 10th anniversary celebrated with $4.99 app on December 15

Get ready to remember how awesome older entries in the Grand Theft Auto series could be. Rockstar has just confirmed that Grand Theft Auto III: 10 Year Anniversary Edition will be on your iOS and Android devices next week. December 15, 2011, to be exact. Which means returning fans and new audiences will be able to help Claude make a name for himself in Liberty City while also working towards a confrontation with his ex-girlfriend, Catalina.

Toys R Us reveals unannounced Black Friday 2011 in-store mystery deals

If you happened to “like” Toys R Us on Facebook, then a rather interesting album announcement probably showed up in your News Feed last night. It turns out Toys R Us offered its fans a firsthand look at its in-store mystery deal doorbusters! The 11 page ad shows a number of offers that will be on sale between November 24, 2011 and November 26, 2011. Surprisingly, there are quite a few gaming and electronics deals, not to mention the announcement that Toys R Us will have $199 Kindle Fire tablets in stock.

EA says 3D gaming isn’t paying off

3D content, whether it’s in games or movies, hasn’t been widely accepted by the public. Studios are pushing the technology into its products regardless of whether or not it’s beneficial to the overall experience. For Electronic Arts, 3D gaming hasn’t taken off in any meaningful way.

Opinion: Microsoft should have announced Xbox handheld game system at E3 2011

At E3 2011, Microsoft announced different partnerships that are going to be popping up, starting with Youtube. The Youtube partnership will hopefully lead to some rather interesting functionality rather than just playing Youtube videos.

Still, there seemed to have been something missing.

Backbreaker: Vengeance will go for 1,200 Microsoft Points

The industry is still attempting to figure out just how much consumers will pay for an arcade sports title. NaturalMotion’s Backbreaker:Vengeance may have inadvertently jumped to the forefront of the debate, as it will sell for 1,200 Microsoft Points. ($15) This is an HD console upgrade of NaturalMotion’s handheld Backbreaker which focused on football mini-games. It achieved more than 1 million downloads on iOS and other mobile platforms.

Double Fine will soon get all the money made from Psychonauts sales

There’s some good news today for people who like games made by Tim Schafer and Double Fine, as Double Fine now owns the publishing rights to Psychonauts. The PS2, Xbox and Windows PC game was originally published in North America by Majesco. This mean that Majesco got money whenever someone purchased a digital copy of the game, either for their Windows PC or Xbox 360. Thanks to this move, Double Fine will eventually be the only company getting money when someone buys Psychonauts

Kmart’s June 12 – 18, 2011 ad has an Xbox 360 deal and 16 sale games

Kmart’s June 12-18, 2011 is a little sparce this week, but gamers still may be able to find one or two great deals. This is especially true if you have passed up on one or two recent PS3 or Xbox 360 releases, since 14 console games have been reduced. The best thing to do is go into the ad with no expectations, that way you’ll be pleasantly surprised when something good does appear.

XBLA Summer of Arcade 2011 starts July 6, 2011

Xbox Live is celebrating some highly touted downloadable titles as the Summer of Arcade starts July 20, 2011. The five games featured are Toy Soldiers: Cold War, Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet, Fruit Ninja Kinect, Bastion and From Dust. Toy Soldiers: Cold War is a follow-up to the successful strategy title from 2010. This time the setting is the ’80s and the action figures in play represent that era. You can bring friends in for co-op action and participate in mini-games including survival.
