New York Comic Con 2011: Asura’s Wrath demo
Walking onto the New York Comic Con from the press line it’s impossible to miss Asura’s Wrath. It was in the back corner of Capcom’s booth but you could hear the screaming from almost anywhere around the booth.
New York Comic Con 2011: Cosplay photo gallery
No convention would be complete without its fair share of cosplayers and the 2011 New York Comic Con was no exception.
There were characters ranging from popular superheroes, video game characters, anime heroes, and some sci-fi characters.
There was also a lot of Adventure Time, although the photos I took of those characters didn’t turn out too well.
Here’s a collection of the best cosplay photos I was able to take in between waiting in line for panels, panels and waiting in line for video game demos.
Heroes & Heralds: a card combat game mode for Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3
At the end of Saturday’s Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 panel, Capcom surprisingly had an announcement that wasn’t previously leaked. The next version of the crossover fighting game will have a card combat mode called Heroes & Heralds.
New York Comic Con 2011: Mario Kart 7 demo
The 3DS is coming into its first holiday season with the Vita looming, which means Nintendo is bringing out the big (family friendly) guns. One of those big titles is the upcoming Mario Kart 7 which I had a chance to try out at New York Comic Con.
New York Comic Con 2011: Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 panel recap
A massive line formed as soon as it was allowed to, with the room’s seats filling rather quickly and others lining all walls save for the front. To start the panel off, Capcom showed the two most recent trailers for the new characters Nova and Phoenix Wright. The Phoenix Wright trailer in particular received a lot of cheering. In response, producer Ryota Niitsuma told the panel that it was the fans that convinced the team to put Wright in the game. The passionate fans convinced Capcom to find a way to get the lawyer to fit into the game while remaining true to his character. Based on the trailer, he seems to fit in very well. However, that honesty would strike back at the panel before it was over.
Bird’s-eye-view of the New York Comic Con show floor
New York Comic Con, as you’d expect, is rather large making it nearly impossible to view it all at once from the ground floor. Thankfully, along with New York Comic Con there’s also New York Anime Festival which is in a hallway above Comic Con. From there I was able to get a few shots more »
New York Comic Con 2011: Halo Anniversary demo
As you’d expect Microsoft was at New York Comic Con showing off it’s latest games, with Halo Anniversary being one of the main demos. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to try out the updated single player experience but I was able to play a game of multiplayer on a classic map.
New York Comic Con 2011: Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword demo
Nintendo’s big game of the show for New York Comic Con this year was Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. Nintendo set up no less than seven stations in its booth dedicated to the game.
New York Comic Con 2011: Final Fantasy XIII-2 hands-on
Final Fantasy XII-2 is the second time Square-Enix has attempted to create a direct sequel to a Final Fantasy game, and keeping in the tradition of Final Fantasy X-2, XIII-2 keeps the characters the same but changes up the rest of the game enough to make it feel new.
Activision and Beenox working on The Amazing Spider-Man for 2012
The latest Activision-published Spider-Man game, Spider-Man: Edge of Time, was just released earlier this month. You would think some time would pass before we see the web-slinger in action once again. Nope. We have to remember this is Activision we’re talking about, and this company has never been shy about releasing similar games at a brisk pace. As such, Activision and developer Beenox will take on Spider-Man again next year with the release of The Amazing Spider-Man.
