TGS 2011: Falcom supporting the Vita with Ys IV: Celceta No Jukai

The Vita received lots of love during the 2011 Tokyo Game Show, and Falcom was among the companies pledging to support Sony’s new system. It’s first Vita offering is going to be a reimagining of an early entry in the Ys series. Surprisingly, it’s a reimagining of a Ys game Falcom didn’t make. Ys IV‘s story will be told again in 2012 as Ys IV: Celceta no Jukai.

There were two Ys IV games before, Ys IV: Mask of the Sun (SNES, PS2) and Ys IV: The Dawn of Ys (TurboGrafx-CD) and while they weren’t identical and played different, the basic story and timing was the same…

Start making plans now for TGS 2012, which will be held September 20-23, 2012. Well, if you’re not a member of the press, then you should make your plans for September 22-23, 2012, as only the third and fourth days of the four day convention are open to the public. It’ll be held at Makuhari Messe next year as well, as usual.

As for people, TGS 2011 set a record…

TGS 2011: Tales of the Heroes headed to the PSP

Tales of Innocence R isn’t the only Sony handheld game from Namco Bandai at the 2011 Tokyo Game Show. Tales of Heroes: Twin Braves is there too, and it isn’t the game every initially thought it would be. First reports from numerous sites indicated that it might be a Vita game along the lines of the PSP fighting game, Tales of VS. Thanks to Namco Bandai’s press conference, we know that’s way off.

Tales of Heroes: Twin Braves is an action game for the PSP, but it does have somethings in common with Tales of VS

TGS 2011: Ni no Kuni coming to North American PS3s

Good news from Japan today! Level-5 confirmed at the 2011 Tokyo Game Show that Ni no Kuni: Shiroki Seihai no Joou will be released in North America. I guess we should really start referring to it as Ni no Kuni: Queen of the Sacred White Ashes now, since that’s probably what it will be called here. Sometime in the beginning of 2012, we’ll be able to visit the Second Country!

Oliver is a normal 13 year old boy living in Hotroit with his mother, and eerything’s going fine. Well, until his mother dies suddenly….

TGS 2011: Android gamers getting Disgaea: Netherworld Unbound

If you haven’t played the original Disgaea yet, NIS America is taking one more step to ensure you do. At the Tokyo Game Show 2011, the company announced that there is going to be an Android version of the now classic strategic RPG released. Sometime before 2011 ends, GMO Gamecenter USA will have a free-to-play version of the game to download to your Android cell phones and devices.

Disgaea: Netherworld Unbound is a port of Disgaea: Hour of Darkness

TGS 2011: NIS America picks up Acquire’s Clan of Champions

NIS America has gone announcement crazy at the 2011 Tokyo Game Show. Of course, that’s probably because it had a special game announcement event. Anyways, among the four new games was something rather unexpected. It turns out, NIS America is going to be bringing Acquire’s action game Clan of Champions to North America. Well, it’s called Clan of Champions for now, and could be something else when we finally get to see it.

Clan of Champions is about the thrill of battle…

TGS 2011: Persona 4 The Ultimate Mayonaka Arena’s arcade cabinet’s on the show floor

Wow, Teddy’s Persona 4 fighting tournament is getting a lot of attention. Wait, I should step back and start over. Arc System Works and Atlus’ fighting game collaboration based on the Persona 4 PS2 game may not be appearing until 2012, but it’s getting lots of love. It’s showing up at the 2011 Tokyo Game Show in a playable form, and people can stop by the arcade cabinet to see what it’s like to play a fighting game inspired by a JRPG.

The P4: UMA demo isn’t actually the full game yet. It’s close enough to give people a good idea of what to expect though…

TGS 2011: FFXIII-2 release dates and Japan-exclusive PS3 announced

Time for another PS3 announcement? Time for another PS3 announcement.

The versions of FFXIII-2 will be coming out one after another….

TGS 2011: There’s a little The World Ends with You in Kingdom Hearts 3D

Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance is a big deal at the 2011 Tokyo Game Show for a number of reasons. First, a trailer of it is being shown at the super secret and awesome theater Square Enix always has at its TGS booth. Second, we now know it can use that weird second analog stick add-on for the 3DS. Third, and most importantly, it’s playable at the booth. And it’s the booth demo and trailer that has shown us that characters and a situation similar to the one from The World Ends with You is making its first appearance in Kingdom Hearts 3D.

In Kingdom Hearts 3D, Sora and Riku are training to become keyblade masters so they can properly face off against Xehanort in the final battle…
