1942
Nintendo Downloads for January 24, 2011
This week’s Nintendo Downloads update is all about the portables and the classics. There is only one new WiiWare game to check out this time around. Which may make Wii owners sad, but only for a moment. That’s because there are also four new DSiWare games and two returning Virtual Console classics. So it’s pretty full when you look at everything, but it’s just a little odd seeing only one WiiWare game.
Perhaps the fact that two WiiWare demos have been added will help make up for that. You can now test out Fish’em All and Furry Legends for free. Not bad, considering the former is normally $8 and the latter $10. Hop on your console, grab one or both tonight and see if they’re worth the Nintendo Points firsthand.
6 Capcom classics headed to Virtual Console
Virtual Console games may trickle out intermittently on the Wii, but there’s good news for classic game fans. At the 2010 New York Comic Con Capcom said it would be releasing more of its arcade games as downloads, and now it has confirmed that 1942, Black Tiger, Commando, Exed Exes, Ghosts ‘n Goblins and Sonson will be released in both North America and Europe. It’s important to note that these are arcade versions of games released in the ’80s, since some of these six games were also released on the NES….
Capcom Arcade brings the arcade experience to the App Store
It seems more likely we’ll never return to the days of sliding tokens into an arcade cabinet. We’ve traded in gathering around the cabinet for talking over the internet. It was good fun while it lasted, and I would be remiss if I didn’t feel bad about that. But Capcom is trying to harness the power of the old days by releasing Capcom Arcade on the App Store.
Playstation Store Update for the week of July 24-30, 2008
This week on the Playstation Store, we’ve got things that are actually interesting For starters, for only this week, a bunch of traditionally $10 games are now going for half-price. On the regular-priced front, there are a couple of treats: the PSP version of the classic Parappa the Rapper (a must-buy) and 1942: Joint Strike, a remake of Capcom’s maiden World War II-based shmup (1941 would’ve been preferable, but it’s worth a look), along with the episodic debut of the PS3′s first survival horror game, Siren: Blood Call.
