Gamertell’s top 10 2009 DS games
Tons of fantastic DS games were released in 2009, and now that we’re entering into 2010 it seems only fitting to honor 10 of the best released last year. Compling such a list is a difficult task, especially considering how many fantastic games were released in 2009, but the final choices mark the best of the best of 2009.
There are quite a few others games though, that do deserve to be acknowledged as runners-up. Games that were good, but not quite good enough to make the top 10. For exampe, there was The Legendary Starfy, Dragon Quest V, Pokemon Platinum, Phantasy Star Zero, Rhythm Heaven and Henry Hatsworth in the Puzzling Adventure. Many great games were released, but only 10 can be considered the best.
And now, on to Gamertell’s 10 best DS games released in 2009…
Staff Mashup: Our favorite games of 2009
We love games. All types of games.
But, of course, we don’t love all games the same amount. Some we simply love more than others. Yes, we play favorites (pun partially intended).
Here’s a look back at a few of the Gamertell staff’s favorite games released during the last year of the first decade of this century.
Five surprisingly disappointing games of 2009
These five games are some that everyone seemed to adore but I didn’t care for at all. This by no means suggests that these are bad games but they wouldn’t get my recommendation if asked.
Despite getting critical acclaim from many, these five games gave me nothing but stress and I have to get this off my chest before 2010 gets underway.

Tokyo Game Show 2009: More Tatsunoko vs. Capcom characters to be revealed
Capcom fighting game fans have been on cloud nine since the company announced Wii-exclusive Tatsunoko vs. Capcom:Ultimate All-Stars would receive a United States release.
There is no better place than the Tokyo Game Show (September 24 through 27, 2009) for Capcom to spoil four new characters including two from the Capcom side and two from the Tatsunoko stable of famous anime shows.
Tokyo Game Show 2009: Sega may announce plans to bring Yakuza 3 to US
Fans of the Yakuza series (me among them) were seriously bummed that Sega hadn’t announced any plans to localize the third installment. Now, 1UP, citing sources close to the project, reports that Yakuza 3 is being localized for the US and European markets.
It’s possible an announcement about the Playstation 3 exclusive game could come at the Tokyo Game Show, September 24 through 27, 2009. There’s a precedent here as the US localization of Yakuza 2 was one of Sega’s announcements at TGS 2007. Yakuza has been termed the “spiritual successor” to Dreamcast classic Shenmue thanks to its vivid depiction of Japanese culture.
