Amazon takes $10 off 3D Dot Games Heroes, Demon’s Souls and Trauma Team
Amazon’s chopped 25% off the price of three Atlus games, Demon’s Souls (PS3), 3D Dot Game Heroes (PS3) and Trauma Team (Wii). Normally, all three games retail for $39.99, but they’re now only $29.99 each online. Not a bad deal, as you can get a new copy for the price of a used one…
Share your 3D Dot Game Heroes at the Hall of Heroes, win Amazon credit
Atlus and From Software’s latest PS3 game, 3D Dot Game Heroes, launches today (May 11, 2010). The thing is, what do you do if you don’t have the right hero? You’re able to use one of many initially available characters, or create your own. Many people may not be artistically inclined enough to create a perfect looking savior. Atlus is stepping up again to save the day, with a Hall of Heroes section on the official 3D Dot Game Heroes site. There, users can upload their own heroes and heroines for others to use…
Try the 3D Dot Game Heroes online character creator to win a (foam) sword
As part of a promotion for the upcoming PlayStation 3 game 3D Dot Game Heroes, publisher SouthPeak has released an online character creator. In the game, you will be able to design your own heroes using the character editor. The online 3D Dot Game Heroes Designer is a sampling of this, allowing you to create your sprite of choice, block by block.
The beauty of the in-game and online character editors is that it allows you to create anything you want. After all, who said that the hero had to be a humanoid? You can make a dragon or a mouse. Heck, it doesn’t even have to be a living creature. Imagine if the legendary hero was a table or book. I’m sure that most people will instead end up recreating more well-known 8-bit sprites including Mario, Mega Man and, of course, Link.
Gamertell Review: 3D Dot Game Heroes for PS3
3D Dot Game Heroes is notable for many reasons. It recreates the classic, action-RPG experience in 3D and on a non-Nintendo console. It encourages player creativity with the ability to design and share your own 3D pixel heroes and heroines. It has a delightfully funny script which not only is reminiscent of classic games, but also lampoons and plays off of them. Finally, it’s an incredible value for a PS3 game, as it offers at least 20 hours of gameplay for $39.99…
Gamertell Preview: Hands on with 3D Dot Game Heroes for PS3
I recently got the chance to spend some quality time with Atlus’ next PS3 game 3D Dot Game Heroes, which makes its grand debut , 2010. The game may be new, but it retains a vintage feel that brings up strong feelings of nostalgia while also paying homage to early action RPGs and other classic games. My account may sound a bit similar to an earlier preview, except this time I got to play instead of watching Atlus’ Aram Jabbari…
Gamertell Preview: 3D Dot Game Heroes for PS3
Atlus recently did a demonstration presentation allowing the press to get an up-close look at 3D Dot Game Heroes, From Software’s homage to classic action RPGs. Gamertell was able to take part, and get a close up look at 3D Dot Game Heroes‘ character editor, introduction and one of the game’s dungeons. It’s going to be a pretty affordable PS3 game when it comes out, costing only $39.99.
In the beginning of the demo, Atlus’ Aram Jabbari showed us the character editor. The controls seemed very user friendly, as he managed to put together a simple character in about five minutes. Each custom character has six basic images, called stand, walk 1, walk 2, hurray, attack 1 and attack 2. He started with stand, and created a basic image. (A floating smiley face in this case.) When creating a character you can use seven colors, and there’s a pretty wide selection of colors to choose the seven you’ll use from. Once you’ve finished making the basic stand image, you can copy that image to the other five positions and then tweak those to reflect walking stances, a victory pose and attacking appearances.
If you don’t feel like making your own character, Aram confirmed that there are many default character designs included with the game, so you can just use what’s available. You can also use other people’s character designs though, as character data can be saved, transferred to USBs and saved online. There’s no way to share via PS3 to PS3, but Atlus will have a character data exchange…
Atlus piecing together 3D Dot Game Heroes
Silicon Studio and From Software’s retro-style, action-rpg adventure 3D Dot Game Heroes gathered a lot of attention in Japan, both before and after it’s November 5, 2009 release date. People were especially enamored with the hero creator tool, and took great pleasure in posting images of custom heroes created.
Thankfully, North American audiences will also be able to experience that same thrill. Atlus has announced that the company is going to publish the game in North America on May 11, 2010. It’ll cost $39.99, not bad for a PS3 game.
3D Dot Game Heroes has a classic, action RPG storyline. Dotnia Kingdom was saved probably centuries ago from the Dark King Onyx, and everyone thought that was the end of their troubles. Except now a Dark Bishop named Fuelle has stolen an orb that has Dark King Onyx sealed inside. Players step into the shoes of a hero, which they can edit to look however they want, to save Dotnia from Fuelle, and possibly Dark King Onyx as well…
