EA is keeping a close eye on IPTV
Electronic Arts is on the lookout for the next big thing in home entertainment. We’re seeing everything going 3D these days and some still question the validity of 3D content. At the same time, we’re seeing more televisions becoming internet enabled. Google TV and Apple TV are just two examples of products that stream internet content to your television. EA thinks there’s an opportunity for profit in IPTV in the gaming industry.
Japan getting glasses-free 3D TVs in December
The television you see on the right may not be the sleekest design ever, but it does prove a point. Glasses-free 3D televisions are no longer technologically impossible, nor are they too expensive for public consumption. Toshiba announced two models of 3D televisions it will bring to market this December in Japan. They don’t have large screens, but it eliminates the need to buy multiple pairs of compatible 3D glasses.
CES 2010: Toshiba embraces 3D gaming with Cell TV
Toshiba’s Cell TV features four processors that clock in at over 3Ghz each. This makes the televisions faster than most standard PC’s. This boost in power helped to introduce a new technology named TriVector which Toshiba says will convert anything the television displays from 2D to 3D.
