Drink Slurpees to get LittleBigPlanet 2 and Killzone 3 freebies
It’s winter, it’s cold, and probably the last thing you want is an ice-cold beverage, but you’re going to have to suck one up anyway. Sony and 7-Eleven are teaming up to promote LittleBigPlanet 2 and Killzone 3. Yup, there’ll be all kinds of cups featuring sackboys and soldiers in a store near you soon. But there’s more to the promotion than getting something to drink in a pretty awesome cup. There are freebies to be earned…
Zynga’s Facebook blockbuster Farmville now has its own ice cream
Farmville isn’t content to be Facebook’s most popular application, it looks as if Zynga is poised to make a marketing and merchandising empire out of this thing. The wildly successful farming sim now has a promotion with 7-Eleven that includes Farmville’s very own ice cream. The $2.29 retail price of this dessert item includes a one-time code for in-game use. Ah, there’s the hook. If you’ve never played Farmville, let me warn you before hand of its addictive qualities.
7-Eleven entering used game sales market
The used video games market is getting crowded as convenience store 7-Eleven has announced it will begin used game sales in September 2010.
7-Eleven is partnering with used game supplier Game Trading Technologies, Inc., to start a program called Great Games Below $20. According to a 7-Eleven press release, the chain will be selling games for $19.99 or less at more than 3,000 US locations and will constantly be getting new stock in.
This year, Domo’s spending Halloween with 7-Eleven
About a year ago, Gamertell’s Important Importables talked about Japanese mascots who’ve gotten their own video games. One of the mascots was Domo, the Nippon Hoso Kyokai (NHK) network mascot – a big brown, friendly monster whose mouth is perpetually open and says only, “Domo.” Last year, Domo was the Halloween mascot for Target stores. This year, he’s working for 7-Eleven.
The 7-Eleven and Domo collaboration is going to last from October 1, 2009 until approximately November 12, 2009. To make it easier, let’s just say you have until the second week of November to stop by your local 7-Eleven if you want to see Domo or pick up some Domo related goodies. You may only just be noticing the promotion now though – my local 7-Eleven only started stocking the Domo items this past Monday.
Here’s what you can expect to see if you stop by 7-Eleven while the promotion is running. There are going to be lots of Domo display items. Domo’s going to appear on all kinds of coffee and slurpee cups, and there will be special, limited drinks in honor of Domo. There will be little accessories, figurines, collectable straws…

Ever have one of those nights where you just can’t seem to sleep? There’s nothing on the tube and you just have the itch to play a game, but none of the ones on your shelf. Now, there might finally be a place to accommodate your late night gaming and muchie binges. Since GameStop feels the need to close so early, 7-Eleven has taken upon itself to be your late night gaming fix.
With the earliest foray into the gaming market being the release of mega-popular alien shooting, Mountain Dew branding, Halo 3, for the company, their latest exploits in, um, selling Gears of War 2 and World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King before their respective street dates, the company has been getting a lot of attention in the gaming media.
Now it seems, according to an article by GameSpot, 7-Eleven will be getting into the video game retail market full-time, starting with some of this holiday’s big releases including…

Playstation Network cards coming to a chain near you
The Playstation Network (PSN) has been offering downloadable games ever since it launched a couple years ago. Unlike its console competitors, however, there was no way to purchase games and services without using a credit or debit card.
Japan has been using PSN cards for a while now and people in North America have been waiting with zen-like patience for the cards to find their way across the ocean. Even though you may find PSN cards scattered about the country in the strangest places, Sony has announced that major chains including Blockbuster, 7-Eleven and…
