Gamersgate has an uber 2011 holiday sale with some great daily deals

Fresh games often come out with a hefty premium price, but the price often drops in a month or two when the hotness finally cools off. After that, the game tends to be forgotten in the rush of next “A title”, and the game doesn’t really sell regardless of the price. This is a shame, because often those “golden oldie” games of just a few months ago are pretty good, and sometimes are even better than when they first came out, thanks to patches and player mods.

Gamersgate is having a holiday sale featuring many games of yestermonth…

PAX Prime 2011: Gearbox panel attendees get Borderlands 2, Borderlands gets Steamworks

Well, we now have another reason to be jealous of all those PAX Prime 2011 attendees. The first, of course, was that they got free OnLive Micro Console adapters just for making a free OnLive account and visiting the booth. Now, we’re hearing that certain attendees got free copies of Borderlands 2 from Gearbox Software. Oh, and the Steam version of the original Borderlands is getting an update too…

Borderlands 2 out in 2012, appearing at GamesCom and Pax Prime

The rumors are real! Gearbox Software has been working on Borderlands 2 a followup to the surprisingly successful Borderlands. I guess that helps explain why the Borderlands Game of the Year Edition was a $14.99 download on the PlayStation Store the week of July 18, 2011. The follow up will be a multiplatform game as well, available on the PS3, Xbox 360 and Windows PC and should be available after April 1, 2012, since Take-Two wants to release it in the 2013 fiscal year.

GameStop’s Cyber Monday 2010 sales

GameStop’s Cyber Monday 2010 specials have gone live. They say Cyber Monday is the online equivalent to Black Friday as far as sweet deals go. Whether that statement holds any weight depends on what you’re looking for. Walmart has deals going on all week, but its initial offerings leave much to be desired. Now it’s GameStop’s turn to win you over.

Borderlands 1.41 patch details

During PAX last month, Gearbox announced Borderlands would be getting a free patch that would do a few new things. Bug fixes and balancing issues are a given, but the real treat is the raising of the level cap. Players will soon have the potential to beef their characters up to level 69. The patch is finished and will be coming to the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC within a couple weeks.

Xbox Live Update for the Week of October 17 through 23, 2010

It’s a tribute to the old school platformers this week as Super Meat Boy enters the Xbox Live Arcade. It’s an admittedly unforgiving game with a whopping 300 levels. Those levels take our meaty hero through boss fights, warp zones and include secret unlockables. It’s a total love letter to the old school games that delighted us with their gameplay, yet made us cry with their difficulty. SMB (and I suspect those initials are not a coincidence) is 800 Microsoft Points ($10) until November 21, when it goes up to 1,200 MP. ($15) Remember, if you spend 2400 MP on games or add-ons between now and October 31, 2010 you will get 800 MP free.

Borderlands GOTY edition has Duke Nukem in it

The Game of the Year edition of Borderlands will be a lot like a box of cereal – there’s a prize in every box. Except this prize is far better than some cheap plastic trinket you’ll chuck fifteen minutes after you’ve found it. 2K Games and Gearbox will be packing early access to the Duke Nukem Forever demo inside each case. Oh, and it also has all four Borderlands DLC add-ons inside…

Xbox Live Update for the week of September 26 through October 2, 2010

Bruce Lee once told pupils to “be like water,” constantly flowing and adjusting to the situation. Something tells me Bruce might have liked Hydrophobia, an aqua-based adventure hitting the Xbox Live Arcade this week. It’s an action-themed shooter which allows you to use water to achieve victory. Developer Dark Energy Digital is touting a feature it calls “flow combat” that plays up the dynamic between water and well, destroying lots of stuff. Hydrophobia is 1,200 Microsoft Points (US$15).

Get two Borderlands DLC packs for $10 from Best Buy

Here are two great reasons to get back into Borderlands. In order to get you prepared for the release of Claptrap’s New Robot Revolution on September 28, 2010, two DLC packs for Borderlands are now on sale. Best Buy is offering The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned and Mad Moxxi’s Underdome Riot together for $9.99.

PAX 2010: Borderlands patch raises the level cap to 69

PAX 2010 is starting to wrap up. Before the show waves goodbye, Gearbox has some good news for those of us who are still roaming in Borderlands. Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford announced that Borderlands will be getting a free patch on the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. This patch will address some balancing issues and raise the level cap from 61 to 69. It will become available in October.
