Greenberg explained that retail outlets have no knowledge of the price structure for Project Natal. He described the prices as merely placeholders and are the results of unfounded speculation. Greenberg went on to say that real price for Natal will be revealed before its release this holiday season.

The smack talk between Microsoft and Sony executives is reaching pro wrestling proportions.

First Sony Computer Entertainment Head Kaz Hirai said the Xbox 360 lacks longevity and that there was “no way” Microsoft will have a bigger install base at the end of the console war than Sony’s PlayStation 3. Hirai made some curious comments about the Nintendo Wii, saying he doesn’t consider it a competitor.

“They’re a different world and we operate in our world,” he said of the ridiculously successful Nintendo Wii to Official PlayStation Magazine. Yeah, Hirai’s in a different world with those comments alright.

But Microsoft wasn’t about to let Sony’s dig go unanswered…
