Day 2 of Amazon’s Black Friday 2011 week has video game general sales, Lightning Deals (update 3)
Oh Amazon, your Black Friday 2011 sales will never cease. Actually, it’s only day two of its Black Friday week affair and I’m already tired of it. But that’s mainly because yesterday the site broke my heart by selling Fate/Extra for half of what I paid for it at GameStop. Alas, these things happen. Amazon’s doing to drive people even more crazy today by doubling the number of general games and accessories that are on sale, compared to what was offered yesterday, having a general Deal of the Day and seven sporatic Lightning Deals. Oh, that’s not even mentioning the random Resistance 3 bundle!
Let’s start with the Deal of the Day and custom bundle, since it’s really quick to go over both of them….
Amazon temporarily takes 40% off the price of 21 gaming accessories
Amazon’s got a video game accessory sale event going on right now. It doesn’t have a fancy name, but a practical promotion like this doesn’t really need one. For a limited amount of time, 21 accessories and peripherals are on sale for up to 40% off the regular prices. We don’t know exactly how limited it is though, since Amazon never lists beginning and end dates for sales like this. If you see something you like, you should probably act quickly.
This particular accessory sale covers pretty much every gaming platform…
Mad Catz introduces 3 new, expensive Saitek flight sim peripherals
Mad Catz is a diverse company. I mean, they cover general Mad Catz accessories, the Game Shark brand. I bet you didn’t know that they also have a brand called Saitek, which deals with computer peripherals like mice, keyboards and incredibly expensive, huge flight sim game peripherals. And now there are three more flight sim accessories – the Pro Flight Throttle/Prop/Mixture System (TPM), Pro Flight Combat Rudder Pedals and Pro Flight Backlit Information Panel (BIP)…
GDC 2010: PS3 motion controller will feature “nunchuk” attachment
The overall impression of this accessory will remind gamers of the Wii remote and nunchuck combo. It will also allow developers to work with similar gaming concepts forged by the Wii and apply them to the superior hardware capabilities of the PS3.
Home Shopping Network host ruins TV with Wii accessory
Even TV hosts aren’t immune to Wii remote and accessory malfunction. On October 16, 2009, the Home Shopping Network uploaded a clip of one of their Wii sale segments to its YouTube Channel. The video is pretty mundane, initially. They’re hocking a $329.90 Wii with Wii Sports and 15 accessories. What a bargain, considering you can go to your local store and get one for $199.
Anyways, it’s business as usual until the host starts really getting into the Wii Sports tennis game. He’s doing pretty well. He’s got his tennis racket accessory clipped onto the remote, and keeps remarking how he’s doing better. He sets himself up for another flawless serve.
Then the tennis racket accessory detaches from the remote and slams into the LG flat screen TV.
Fast forward to the five minute mark for hilarity in action…
Remembering Dance Aerobics, the spiritual predecessor to Wii Fit
It turns out that all the way back in 1987, a game for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) was tricking its unsuspecting users into exercise routines. Bandai’s Dance Aerobics is the spiritual predecessor to Nintendo’s Wii Fit and natural movement.
The game features a few modes of following an instructor’s robotic stomping pattern that you repeat on a Power Pad accessory…
