Record of Agarest War 2 recounted in North America and Europe in 2012

Good news for fans of PS3-exclusives, you’re getting Record of the Agarest War 2 in 2012! Whether you’re in North America or Europe, you’ll have access to this Compile Heart and Idea Factory strategic RPG that places just as much emphasis on finding love with a female party member as it does with beating up lots of monsters and bad guys. Oddly enough, it’s the first entry in the series that isn’t multiplatform. I guess this means Xbox 360 owners will either have to visit a friend or go online to find out what happens next in the series!

Record of the Agarest War 2 takes place after the first game, even though it’s the third game in the series…

Aksys promoting Hakuoki with a website and virtual magazines

Aksys has taken on the challenging task of not only releasing a PSP game late in the handheld’s life cycle, but also choosing an otome visual novel as its next game. Allow me to clarify for those of you now going, “Bwah?” An otome game is a dating sim for girls. A visual novel is pretty much a choose your own adventure story. Are we good? Good. The question is, how does Aksys get people to crave Hakuoki: Demon of the Fleeting Blossom? It’s actually a pretty easy task, especially since there are a lot of girl gamers out there who have been asking for an otome adventure for a while.

To get people interested and invested in Hakuoki, Aksys has decided to go all out on the website…

BlazBlue: Continuum Shift EXTEND brings Relius Clover to North America

I really hope you’re not tired of BlazBlue: Continuum Shift yet, even though it’s been in arcades and on consoles as BlazBlue: Continuum Shift and the 3DS and PSP as BlazBlue: Continuum Shift II. See, BlazBlue: Continuum Shift EXTEND has now been confirmed and I really don’t want you to burn yourselves out. Yes, it’s a third incarnation of the same game, only this time it’s totally the best version and will be on the Vita, PS3 and Xbox 360.

Basically, BlazBlue: Continuum Shift EXTEND is an enhanced version of BlazBlue: Continuum Shift II, which was of course an enhanced version of the original BlazBlue: Continuum Shift

BIT.TRIP Presents: Runner 2, Future Legend of Rhythm Alien has awesomely long name

There’s one thing WiiWare has always had on PSN and XBLA. It was one little gem of awesomeness and pride that made Wii owners actually want to browse the Wii Shop Channel. It’s the Bit.Trip series from Gaijin Games and Aksys. They’re quirky, cool, retro-inspired bundles of joy with awesome soundtracks and rhythm elements. And now, finally, there’s going to be an entry on the PlayStation Store and Xbox Live Arcade. It’s called BIT.TRIP Presents: Runner 2, Future Legedn of Rhythm Alien, but since that’s so long, let’s just go with Runner 2 for now…

Fate/Extra standard and limited editions available November 1, 2011

The PSP is in decline, but there are still a handful of great games coming to Sony’s handheld. Among them is a little gem from Aksys called Fate/Extra, inspired by Type-Moon’s line of Fate/ visual novels. It turns out this RPG will be out quite soon, on November 1, 2011 – 11/1/11!

Two versions will be available. If you’re just interested in the game, then you can grab the standard version on UMD or on the PlayStation Store, for $29.99 and $24.99, respectively…

Important Importables: Hakuoki

Otome fans all throughout North America rejoiced when Aksys announced it would bring us Idea Factory’s PSP game, Hakuoki: Shinsengumi Kitan as Hakuouki: Demon of the Fleeting Blossom. 2012 is still a long ways away though, and that’s how long we have to wait before we’ll actually get to play it in English. In the meantime, here’s a brief recap on Hakuoki to help get you up to date on the series, anime and real Shinsengumi.

Aksys announces Hakuoki and Fate/Extra at Anime Expo 2011

Anime Expo isn’t the place one would imagine a company announcing its forthcoming games, but that’s exactly what Aksys did today. The company attended Anime Expo 2011 and held a panel earlier today (July 2, 2011). There it announced two PSP games with dating sim elements, one being Hakuoki: Demon of the Fleeting Blossom and the other Fate/Extra. Of course, given that both are games with anime series that go along with them, being Hakuoki and Fate/stay Night, it makes sense….

Bit.Trip game collection to appear on both Wii and 3DS

It turns out the 3DS won’t be the only system to have all of the Bit.Trip games collected into one happy little package. The Wii will too. Aksys has just confirmed that while the 3DS will get get the Bit.Trip Saga on September 13, 2011, the Wii will get Bit.Trip Complete. Yay for everyone who liked the concept of the WiiWare games but didn’t want to download them!

While the Bit.Trip Saga collection will just contain 3DS ports of Bit.Trip Beat, Bit.Trip Core, Bit.Trip Void, Bit.Trip Runner, Bit.Trip Fate and Bit.Trip Flux, Bit.Trip Complete will come with so much more…
