Important Importables: Meiji

While writing last week’s Important Importables, the one with all the candy and snack suggestions, I suddenly realized that many of the items I was recommending were made by one company – Meiji. Meiji is one of the most well known snack companies in Japan, providing an array of tasty goodies. It isn’t limited to that one continent though. Meiji’s goods can be found worldwide.

So this week, we’re doing a little something different here and looking at Meiji Holdings Ltd. That way, the next time you’re at the grocery story you could find something new to try…

Important Importables: Mobaccho!, Apollo and Dessert Pocky mini-reviews

With Easter coming up, you could be looking for some kind of cookie, candy or other treat to pack into an Easter basket for someone. So what better treat to include than some kind of Japanese treat. It’d be exotic and unusual, and also quite tasty too! Plus it also offers a little bit of exposure to a different culture.

So this week for Important Importables, I’ll be briefly looking at, tasting and reviewing three different kinds of Japanese treats. I went to my local Japanese grocery store (Mitsuwa Plaza) and picked up some Mobaccho!, Apollo and Dessert Pocky, and did quick reviews of all three.

Alternate Disc-Tractions: Battlestar Galactica Season 4.5 DVD review

The final season of the groundbreaking revamp TV series, Battlestar Galactica, wraps up all of the mysteries, visions and even relationships that had been developing throughout the series. Even with all the bonus footage, extended episodes and commentary tracks, that doesn’t mean the ending will make any more sense.

But do not despair. This is the perfect followup to the amazing first half of the final season and a beautiful, even if somewhat intentionally enigmatic conclusion to the series.
