Review: The Kore Gang for Nintendo Wii

The Kore Gang

The Kore Gang plays like your typical Saturday afternoon alien invasion movie, only this time the aliens are invading from inner-Earth, not outer space. If you’re looking to fill the gap between The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword and Xenoblade Chronicles, this is the game to get.

Atari releases massive Dungeon & Dragons bundle as part of Thanksgiving 2011 sale

Dungeons and Dragons‘ value as a brand skyrocketed with the advent of computer gaming, and many titles are classics of the genre, from Pool of Radiance to, well, anything by Bioware. While those old, 2D, turn-based games haven’t aged well, they’re still packed with gaming goodness for anyone not too snooty to play a game with dated graphics. If you missed out on those classics or just want to see some old friends here is some great news: Atari is releasing two massive bundles of D&D games for the 2011 holiday season….

The future of Star Trek Online is free

If you’re paying a $14.95 monthly subscription to play Star Trek Online or, heaven forbid, were one of those people who paid $299.99 for a lifetime subscription, you really should sit down and take some deep, calming breaths before you continue reading.

Ready?

Star Trek Online is going to be turned into a free-to-play MMORPG…

E3 2011: Centipede: Infestation first-hand impressons, boss battle (video)

My brother and I have an ongoing debate about classic arcade game updates: He hates them and I understand them. In some cases, those old cabinet games only worked because of their simplicity. Occasionally, though, the action can translate to a modern gaming engine if done right. I’m happy to say Atari’s Centipede: Infestation for Wii and 3DS is being done right.

E3 2011: Dungeons & Dragons: Neverwinter details revealed

Dungeons & Dragons‘s Neverwinter has been a popular location for multiple video games. First, there was the 1991 MMORPG Neverwinter Nights, followed by the 2002 RPG Neverwinter Nights and Neverwinter Nights 2 in 2006. Now, five years later, Atari and Cryptic Studios are using E3 2011 to prepare people for the Q4 2011 RPG Neverwinter.

Like the previous games, Neverwinter is a Windows RPG set in the city-state Neverwinter. For a while, Neverwinter seemed like it would remain fairly peaceful and untouched by the Spellplague that ravaged other areas 100 years ago. That didn’t last…

iPad gaming update for April 10

Has Apple told Best Buy to stop selling the iPad 2? In case you missed it, Best Buy has been accused of being black listed for restricting iPad 2 sales after they reached their internal daily sales quota. I don’t know what to think of this one. Is Apple black listing them? Probably not, though they can’t be too happy units aren’t being sold, unless Apple instructed the promotion (knowing Apple, they didn’t). Did Best Buy withhold the units? According to independent investigation by The Boy Genius Report they did for “an upcoming promotion.” It’s kind of a slimy move by Best Buy to withhold the in-high-demand units but pulling inventory from store shelves for promotions is nothing new in the retail industry. Best Buy and, to a lesser extent, Apple just have to hope that the promotion is worth potentially lost sales from that location.

Enough talk, let’s get to the games!

Warlords rises from the Atari 2600′s ashes to assault PS3s and Xbox 360s

Warlords are on the warpath again! Those dragons better beware, because it won’t be so easy for them to take down castles with an army around. Atari is tapping into it’s original Atari 2600 game in the hopes it will translate well into a downloadable, multiplayer PS3 and Xbox 360 game. So before Summer 2011 ends, players will be working against or with other players to protect a castle from fireball spewing dragons.

See, in Warlords the fireballs come crashing down…

Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime introduces a new generation of heroes

Nearing three decades after the original Ghostbusters split our sides, an upcoming Atari video game is helping pass the torch to four new heroes. There have been numerous cartoons, comics and games depicting the paranormal investigation professionals over the years. Sanctum of Slime features four new characters created specifically for this game, making it a unique endeavor.

The game’s story is written by Tom Waltz, IDW Publishing Editor at IDW which also publishes the Ghostbusters comic books.

Eden Games apologizes for Test Drive Unlimited 2 issues with free DLC

Test Drive Unlimited 2 has a lot of issues. Gamebreaking problems, even. Save games would randomly corrupt themselves, people couldn’t log in, there were lots of issues with the casino and sometimes playing with friends wasn’t very easy. But Eden Games and Atari want to make things right. They’ve patched the PC version and are working on the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions as well. But, they feel that isn’t enough to make things right. So they’re preparing some free Exploration Pack DLC as well…
