Atlus skips the trolling, just announces Growlanser IV for PSP
If you’re a member of the Atlus Faithful email newsletter, then seeing that familiar newsletter@atlus.com email address in your inbox always causes a flurry of emotions. Back when the company was trolling us about the Gungnir release, it brough frustration as each clue seemed to hint at either Gungnir or Growlanser IV. When we know more »
Devil Survivor 2 predicting people’s deaths on February 28, 2012
Atlus has been known to bring rather unorthodox games to the DS, and some of the best were entries in the Shin Megami Tensei series. Particularly awesome was Devil Survivor, a game that had visual novel elements for day to day events and battles that blended strategic RPG movements and turn-based attacks. It did so more »
The Dept. Heaven saga continues with Gungnir in 2012
Atlus’ trolling of fans is now over. The result is half of the people who were following along are pleased, and the other half are heartbroken. When Atlus started this game of trolling its fans with hints at its next downloadable game, people quickly narrowed it down to two options. One was Growlanser IV for the PSP, a series that hasn’t been seen in North America for years, and the other was Gungnir for the PSP, the fourth game in the Dept. Heaven series that also includes Riviera, Yggdra Union and Knights in the Nightmare. While many had their hopes up that perhaps both games would be released, the news broke today that the mystery title is, in fact, Gungnir and we’ll see it on June 12, 2012…
Atlus’ next game starts with a G, ends with a R
Atlus is the kind of company that likes to hype up its fanbase whenever a new game is coming out. You know, tease people and get them all excited about the latest release. Yesterday, all Atlus Faithful fans received an email with the first hint. The new game’s name starts with the letter G. While that started a flurry of excitement over a Persona 4: Golden (Vita) announcement, the next clue rules it out. Today, on the company’s Facebook page, it confirmed that the last letter of the title is R.
This means there are now two viable localization options that could fit those clues: Gungnir (PSP) and Growlanser IV (PSP)….
Review: King of Fighters XIII for PS3, Xbox 360
When you think about it, King of Fighters XIII is kind of ironic. A really good game and one of the best, recent entries in the King of Fighters series, but still. SNK Playmore has been known for its fighting games for years, since back when arcades were where it was at. But now, it’s been sidelined by Capcom, Namco Bandai and Arc System Works.
At first, SNK Playmore decided to try and reclaim its glory by following the path Capcom and Namco Bandai took, experimenting with 3D character models and 2.5D. It didn’t go so well for them. Now, it’s going back to its roots and following Arc System Works’ path, putting together a game with gorgeous 2D HD characters, a more thought-out story and multiple game modes. It works, and the result is a game fighting fans will want to own…
Three more Game of Thrones games headed our way
A Game of Thrones has exploded, thanks to HBO’s series based on the first entry in George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Fire and Ice series of novels. And we all know what happens when something’s popularity explodes. People go crazy trying to find new ways to get that property into people’s lives. So, as you can probably guess, A Game of Thrones: Genesis will not be the only game based on the story. Three more games are in the works, with one being an action RPG from Cyanide Studios and Atlus, another being an online social game from an unknown developer and the third being a free-to-play, MMORPG from Bigpoint.
The PS3, Xbox 360 and Windows PC version of A Game of Thrones has had the most details about it released so far…
The Atlus-O-Weenie 2011 Costume Contest has big prizes
Halloween is fast approaching, which means its time for the Atlus Faithful to start planning. As always, Atlus is holding a Halloween costume contest where people who dress up as their favorite Atlus video game characters could end up winning stuff for their hard work. This year, eight lucky people will walk away with Amazon gift cards for their awesome costumes.
The smallest prize will go to four random entrants, who will each walk away with $25 gift cards.,,
Review: Persona 2: Innocent Sin for PSP
The final piece of the puzzle is now in North America, thanks to Atlus. For the first time, Persona 2: Innocent Sin is being released in English. Which means people with the right platforms can experience the entire Persona experience, from Shin Megami Tensei: Persona to Persona 4, in all its glory and see just how the series has grown from its roots. This fact alone will make it easier for JRPG fans to overlook some of the less desirable aspects of this classic game…
You can’t get Persona 2 Innocent Sin from Amazon right now
I hope you grabbed Persona 2: Innocent Sin from Amazon on September 20, 2011, when the game first debuted. See, you can’t get it now. Well, at least for a short while you can’t. If you head to Amazon’s product page, there’s a big “Item Under Review” notice on the page.
Now, this shouldn’t be any cause for alarm. Items that get this label tacked onto it usually return for sale on the site…
Demon’s Souls servers will still be online in 2012
Atlus has just reaffirmed its commitment to PS3 owners who happened to pick up From Software’s Demon’s Souls. The servers for the game’s network functions are going to remain online. Originally, Atlus was saying it would only offer online functionality until October 2011, to mark the two year anniversary of it’s October 6, 2009 release. Now, it’s decided to offer service until sometime in 2012.
You’re probably wondering why this is important…
