Xbox Avatars are Microsoft’s successful attempt to out-Nintendo the Mii avatars. You can even deck them out in avatar clothing from games ranging from Final Fantasy XIII to Madden NFL 10. There’s a charge for many of these collections. If you’re like me, you have made a solemn vow to never pay for virtual clothing. Leave those sorts of microtransactions to World of Warcraft.

Splosion Man was one of the shining jewels in the Xbox 360′s summer of arcade festivities earlier this year (2009). It involved the simple concept of exploding your character through platform-heavy levels to end the stage. Splosion Man is also one of the first games to give awards that can be used by your Xbox 360 avatar.

Twisted Pixel sent a press release about a patch for Splosion Man that adds avatar awards in the form of clothing and fixes some multiplayer issues.
