Majesco and Large Animal Games’ Bananagrams is ripe

Facebook fanatics will now have another application to steal away precious moments of their lives – Bananagrams. The Scrabble-esque multiplayer, free-to-play, browser-based game from Majesco and Large Animal Games has officially launched and is now live on the social networking site and ready to be played and enjoyed. We first learned about Majesco’s Facebook game debut back at the end of July, 2008, so it nice to finally see a finished product.

The goal in Bananagrams is to make the most words on the field by continually taking tiles from the community tile pile. Once the tile pile is cleaned out, the person who uses all of their letter tiles first is the winner. It seems like the game could get a bit frantic, since 26 people can play at once in the multiplayer mode…

Bananagrams to be Majesco’s Facebook debut

Majesco’s first Facebook game has been revealed – it will be working with Large Animal Games to bring Bananagrams to users of the social networking site. The game will be a free Facebook application on August 18, 2008, with additional features and upgrades added later. The official Bananagrams press release does not state if the game will only be open to US and Canadian users, like EA’s Scrabble.

Bananagrams, like EA’s Scrabble, is based on a previously existing board game and also involves using tiles to create words. However, Bananagrams is more of a free-for-all. A pile of tiles is created and each person is given tiles, and immediately every player goes to work creating words at the same time. The person who uses all of his tiles after the pile of tiles is gone is the winner.
