Play Aliens vs Predator on demand this week, Bayonetta next
The Xbox Live Games on Demand service is getting a few new options this month thanks to Sega. It’s bringing Aliens vs. Predator and Bayonetta to the service. So if you haven’t already gotten either of these games for your Xbox 360 and that drive or walk to your local GameStop is too daunting for you, you can just download them.
Aliens vs. Predator is already available…
Bayonetta is $9.98 with free shipping at Amazon
Bayonetta was a strange game led by an unapologetically hyper-sexualized heroine of the same name. The game had a difficulty mode called “non-stop climax” for crying out loud. Even though the game was very Japanese from a gameplay perspective, Bayonetta was adored in the United States. Now you can see what the big deal was for less than $10.
Sega releases Bayonetta update for PS3 owners tired of loading times
There’s good news for PS3 owners who own Bayonetta. Well, it’s good as long as you happen to live in North America or Europe and have some hard drive space free on your PS3. Sega has just released a Bayonetta update patch which will automatically be downloaded and installed the next time you pop Bayonetta into your system.
The patch was created in response to players’ complaints about Bayonetta‘s loading times. Once the patch has been installed, an “Install” option will be added to the main menu. You can then install the game to your PS3 to improve your playing experience. Yay for shorter loading times…
Notable January 2010 video game releases (a polite reminder)
The tail end of 2009 was originally full of high-profile releases that were eventually pushed back. Some may say Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is the chief reason publishers decided to push some of their games to January 2010 and beyond. Whatever the reason, January 2010 is a busy month for videogame releases. Its more »
PlayStation Store Update: Classic games galore, awesome bonus content (December 6 to 12, 2009)
This week’s featured download is Call of Duty Classic, a must have for all Call of Duty fans. This first-person shooter originally released for Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X and N-Gage in October 29, 2003, is now available for $14.99.
The next featured download is actually a demo. For those who read Christian Morlotte’s review of Bayonetta and can’t wait for the demo, you don’t have to wait any longer. The Bayonetta demo is now available for download free at the PlayStation Network Store.
And, as usual, a big ol’ list o’ goodies…
Bayonetta demo available early December 2009
The holidays are coming a little early this year for fans of brawler games.
The playable Bayonetta demo will be available for download on December 3, 2009, on Xbox Live and PlayStation Network.
Bayonetta tells the story of a witch who is one of the last members of a dying order. After awaking from a 500-year nap, she finds herself being hunted down by hosts of angels. Fortunately for her, this really isn’t as much of an overkill as it sounds…
PS3 owners don’t need to wait until January 2010 for Bayonetta
Platinum Games and Sega’s Bayonetta isn’t due out in North America until January 5, 2010. Thankfully, PS3 owners don’t have to wait that long. If they have a credit card or a paypal account, they can hop online to the Japanese import video game store of their choice and order a copy of the Japanese version that comes out October 29, 2009.
Siliconera is reporting that, while the instruction manual is in Japanese, the game is completely translated. There’s even English voice acting! The PS3 version of Bayonetta received a 38 out of 40 in Famitsu, by the way, which means that a potentially great game could be waiting for you. Since the PS3 is region-free, the Japanese game will work with any PS3 console.
The only thing is, you will be paying a premium price for the right to own Bayonetta early. If you wait until January for the US release, it will cost you $59.99. Here’s what it’ll cost to import a Japanese copy right now from some of the most dependable online sites…
Sega’s San Diego Comic Con ’09 game lineup revealed
Sega has a bit of a surprise for Comic Con 2009 attendees, a game lineup that sounds like it’d fit better at a video game convention like E3. Sega, which had previously announced that it would be attending the California Comic Con from July 23-26 , but only just announced the products it will be showcasing at booth #5229.
Sega’s offerings are well rounded, covering games for the DS, PC, PS3, PSP, Wii and Xbox 360. Iron Man 2, which is scheduled to appear on all the above platforms, will be at the event. So will the DS exclusive games Bleach: The 3rd Phantom and Sands of Destruction…
E3 2009: Bayonetta hands-on impressions
I first caught a glimpse of Bayonetta at the 2008 Tokyo Game Show so when I found out that Sega would be debuting a playable demo of this game, I made sure I held my place in line. The demo offered two different stages: A tutorial (easy mode) and actual levels (normal mode).
Bayonetta is a third-person action adventure game amidst a fully 3D environment with game play that closely resembles Capcom’s Devil May Cry. It includes an intact combo system as well as a scoring meter that tallies everything at the end of the level and awards the player with different trophies representative of skill level displayed. Bayonetta was being demoed on the Xbox 360 and is scheduled for a multi-platform release in late 2009 (Xbox 360, Playstation 3). From the early looks of this game and the demo, it looks like the latter part of 2009 is heating up to be be one extremely sexy adrenaline rush.
