Playstation Store Update for the week of August 14-20, 2008

We’ve got a Capcom-a-thon going on for this week’s Playstation Store upadte. Bionic Commando‘s supposedly very well-done remake is now available (and I still need to beat the NES original) alongside the original Street Fighter Alpha. While many talk down to the first SFA, as it’s less refined than the second game and less feature and character-packed than the third, it’s an extremely solid fighter on its own merits with a decent cast and some excellent music. Well worth the cash if you haven’t forked it out already for, say, the PS1 version it’s ported from or Street Fighter Alpha Anthology on the PS2.

Oh, and one final thing about the Rock Band songs for this week. They’re available at a dollar a pop or for six for the whole pack for this month only. Then, they go up to $2 each and $10 for the pack.

Now that Comic-Con 2008 is behind us it’s time to for a quick recap of the games that was shown there. Just about any game-based on comic books had a huge presence at this years show. We learned some new things about DC Universe Online and Street Fighter IV.

There’s plenty more games to talk about so let’s get right into it. Click through for the videogame highlights form Comic-Con 2008…

GamersGate to carry Capcom games

Capcom fans who happen to be PC gamers will soon find their addiction fed by GamersGate. GamersGate, an online video game distribution site, and Capcom have entered into a deal which will allow users to purchase Capcom titles from the GamersGate site.

Initially, only a few games will be offered for download. The press release only mentions Plunder and Bionic Commando Rearmed as upcoming titles. Strategy Informer speculates that Devil May Cry 4 could end up being made available through GamersGate, and I have to agree that it seems very reasonable.

Bionic Commando Rearmed pricing, system requirements revealed

Get your wallets ready, folks. Capcom announced Tuesday (March 18, 2008) the price for Bionic Commando: Rearmed, the game’s release month and the minimum and recommended requirements for the PC version.

Keep toiling in those mines, fellow gamers – you’ll need to work long and hard to conjure up the whopping $10 needed to play the XBox 360 and Playstation3 versions of this remade relic from the ’80s NES era. As for the PC iteration, that’s still to be determined, as it may contain content not included with its…

Playstation Store update for the week of February 21-27, 2008

So it’s another quiet week on the Playstation Store front. There’s demo of PixelJunk Monsters here, some Rock Band songs there and a Bionic Commando Rearmed trailer. It also has Jet Moto 3 as the semi-obligatory PS1 game up for download. Usually these are at least cool novelties that I tend to explain and jump up and down about, but to be quite frank I can’t even remember Jet Moto 3 even existing. Take that complete and utter omission from my fond memories of the late ’90s as you will.

But anyway, dig carefully this comprehensive list of this week’s updates…

Capcom polls gamers for Bionic Commando Rearmed price

Capcom has put up a poll Tuesday (February 19, 2008) on their official North American Bionic Commando site that anyone faintly interested in downloading Bionic Commando Rearmed, the souped-up remake of the classic NES title headed for the XBox 360, Playstation3 and PC, should probably vote in: whether to price the game at $10 or $15.

Supposedly, this is really to settle an argument between…
