Since the PlayStation Network is going offline for several hours tomorrow (September 21, 2010), the PlayStation Store is updating today. This means we get content a whole day early. Among the new games available will be DeathSpank: Thongs of Virtue. Thongs of Virtue is the sequel to DeathSpank, which came out last month. The original was worth $15 but we never got anything free from it. We will now.

Let’s say you’ve played a lot of Final Fantasy XI, but you also want to participate in Final Fantasy XIV when it comes out on September 30, 2010. Should you cancel one of your subscriptions and create an all new account? The good news is you won’t have to. In fact, Square Enix has a few incentives prepared for gamers who continue subscribing to both games.

We know it’s very unusual for a PSN game to be pre-ordered. Steam lets you pre-load some of its games before release, but that’s just really meant to help you avoid congestion for when everyone starts downloading at the same time. Ubisoft on the other hand wants you to pre-order Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game for PSN. This is probably the strangest concept we’ve ever heard.
PlayStation Plus subscription service available June 29, 2010, for PS3, PSP
When the PlayStation Network launched November 2006, rumors began to spread about a fee-based system being implemented to use any network services currently available on the PlayStation 3 (including fees to use online gaming connection, chat or messaging services and access to the PlayStation Network Store).
At E3 2010, Sony confirmed that the existing PlayStation Network will remain free. The only service that will be available for an annual fee is the new optional subscription service called PlayStation Plus that will launch June 29, 2010.

God of War III pre-orders come with autographed poster
Gamestop announced it will be handing out a 17×24 poster autographed by GoW III‘s concept artist Andy Park. This poster to limited customers who pre-order GoW III in the store. If you pre-order online you won’t be eligible to receive the poster. Pre-orders will also include the Phantom of Chaos character skin.
Harmonix founders getting $300 million in bonuses for Rock Band
Bloomberg is reporting that Viacom will be paying Harmonix co-founders Alex Rigopulos and Eran Egozy a total of $300 million in bonuses for the runaway success of Rock Band.
The huge payday for the two men is part of the conditions of Viacom’s purchase of Harmonix, which occurred back in 2006. Rigopulos and Egoz have already received $150 million from Viacom during the third quarter of 2008. They will earn at least an additional $150 million in 2009 as a reward for Rock Band‘s popularity far exceeding…
