Lunar: Silver Star Story Volume 2 – 4 won’t be released by Game Arts
I hope you enjoyed Lunar: Silver Star Story – The Call of the Wind, because it’s all you’re going to get. Game Arts has decided not to translate the rest of the novelization of Lunar: The Silver Star. Back on November 28, 2010 it released an English language version of the first volume of Kei Shigema’s adaptation on the Kindle Store. While it didn’t promise anything then, I’m sure a number of gamers were hoping for the best…
Heroes of Shadow D&D game supplement getting mixed reviews
Wizards of the Coast‘s (WotC) latest hardcover book, Heroes of Shadow, is yet another new take for their fourth edition Dungeons and Dragons (4e D&D) role playing game (RPG).
Up until this point, characters in 4e D&D were strictly the good guys and had no serious option to play or act evil but Heroes of Shadow changes that paradigm. Players can now take on the role of traditionally evil villains including the Assassin (first introduced in 1978, but not seen much since) or Blackguard (a fallen Paladin, a common archetype to D&D), all worked out with their own special powers and features.
Review: Homefront: The Voice of Freedom by Joh Milius, Raymond Benson
Homefront: The Voice of Freedom is a hard book to review. It’s mostly because there are two ways to actually judge the book. One way of judging the book is as a mode of hype for THQ’s upcoming game Homefront. The other way of judging it is as a book by itself, regardless of the fact that it is a tie-in to a soon-to-be released game.
If you look at Homefront: The Voice of Freedom as a vehicle of hype, it really gets you wanting to play the game now. However, if you look at it only as a book, it’s very weak. Click through to find out why…
Book Review: Reality Is Broken by Jane McGonigal
Being a gamer is quite an achievement regardless of any stigma that society might put on games. We have a way to fill our unused time. We have a means to relax that some people either neglect or hold with some level of contempt. But does gaming fill any actual need that isn’t filled by society? Can gaming be used to make not only our own quality of life, at least in terms of happiness, but the world itself better? That, simply put, is the premise of Jane McGonigal’s book Reality Is Broken.
Viz bringing ICO: Castle of the Mist to North America
Viz has just announced a number of new books it’s picked up from Japan that it will be releasing in North America this summer, and one may just be required reading for gamers. It’s ICO: Castle of the Mist. As you probably gathered from that big, distinctive ICO in the title, it’s a novelization of the PlayStation 2 Team Ico game.
ICO: Castle of the Mist was originally written and released in 2004, three years after the game was released. It won’t be arriving here though until July 19, 2011…
Review: Halo Cryptum by Greg Bear
Halo: Cryptum is the first book in a proposed trilogy that introduces the Forerunners at the height of their power. What starts off as a treasure hunt becomes a race to save the Forerunners from not only something they locked away once before but also from themselves.
Gamertell Review: Warrior Priest by Darius Hinks
When you look at the Empire in Warhammer, you see a large group of different armies that fight to preserve the honor of Sigmar and the lands of man. Each of the Empire Army novels covers a different group within the imperial army. One of the more interesting groups are those of the warrior priests, which, naturally, the book Warrior Priest covers.
Read about Nathan Drake’s adventures in Uncharted: The Fourth Labyrinth
Naughty Dog and Sony haven’t revealed any information on a third Uncharted game, but fans of Nate’s adventures will be able to get a quick fix next year. Del Rey will be publishing a novel by Christopher Golden called Uncharted: The Fourth Labyrinth that will have Nate globetrotting again.
Uncharted: The Fourth Labyrinth isn’t a canon adventure, so you won’t be missing out if you decide to skip it…
