Bungie MMO announcement was all a joke

One of the biggest mysteries in the videogame industry (and there are many) is what Bungie’s next project is. Bungie isn’t going to make Halo games anymore, and has signed on with Activision Blizzard for the next decade. Earlier rumors stated Bungie’s next project was a massively multiplayer online game. The latest piece of information, that was supposedly leaked by a released contract worker, said the game was code-named Destiny. At GDC this week, a slide from a Bungie presentation seemed to have confirmed this. Sorry guys, it was a joke.

Bungie neither confirms or denies it’s making a MMO

Earlier today, a report from Kotaku Australia revealed that Bungie is working on a game that is part first-person shooter and part MMO. This game was referred to as Destiny and continues the the sci-fi tradition Bungie is known for. This information was provided by someone who claimed to be a recently dismissed contractor.

Next Halo Reach map pack is Defiant

Halo: Reach will be getting an update next month. The Defiant Map Pack will be released, helping to make the multiplayer mode more attractive. If you decide to pick up this pack, you’ll be getting three new areas where you can explore or simply attack anything that moves and isn’t on your side. I guess you could still attack the people if they are on your side too, but that’d be kind of mean…

Deal of the Day: Halo: Reach Legendary Edition $79.99

GameStop has a killer deal online right now that would make an excellent Christmas gift. It is selling the Halo: Reach Legendary Edition for only $79.99. The Legendary Edition usually sells for $149.99. What possessed GameStop to knock of $70 is beyond my comprehension. You would do yourself well to jump on this offer before it’s sold out.

Halo: Reach Noble Map Pack coming November 30

When Bungie posted an image of a Halo: Reach Achievement blade with 1250 Achievement Points listed, we suspected some downloadable content was coming. Today those suspicions have been confirmed. Microsoft and Bungie will release the Noble Map Pack on November 30, 2010 for 800 ($10) Microsoft Points.

Fight Like A Girl in Halo: Reach, help raise breast cancer awareness

There are few things in gaming better than racking up a killing spree in Halo: Reach. One way to make that even better is to rack up head shots while fighting breast cancer.

Kari Toyama and Tasha Pettengill created a way to do that in 2006 with the Fight Like a Girl (FLAG) Halo Tournament. The pair has run the event ever since. The October 23-24, 2010, weekend event will bring gamers from all over the world together to raise money for breast cancer research. One hundred percent of the cash raised goes to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure and National Cervical Cancer Coalition.

Halo: Reach is getting more Achievements

Bungie hasn’t made any specific announcement regarding future content for Halo: Reach. There will be a title update for the game in October that will fix some bugs and address issues with balancing. This update will also enable co-op matchmaking for the campaign and might include new multiplayer maps. It’s inevitable Bungie will at release some additional content for Halo: Reach and the image above proves it.

10 fun Halo: Reach facts

It has been nearly a week since Halo: Reach came into our lives. It has made over $200 million and broke the record for most concurrent users on Xbox Live. Most of our Xbox Live friends list was most likely littered with Halo: Reach activity. Bungie says over 700,000 players participated in Halo: Reach on day one. Those are just a few facts stemming from Bungie’s swan song. There are still 10 more that are equally, if not more impressive.

Halo: Reach title update coming early October

If you want to play the co-op campaign in Halo: Reach, you have to have specific teammates in mind. At the current time, Halo: Reach does not allow co-op matchmaking for the campaign. Bungie kept this function from the game because it didn’t want the ending spoiled on accident. In October, Bungie’s No Spoilers Doctrine will be lifted and co-op campaign matchmaking will be enabled.

Remember Reach on your dashboard

Do you remember where you were or what you were doing when Reach fell? Chances are you had a controller in hand and a sense of dread in your heart. A lot of men and women gave their lives in defense of Reach and they should honored virtually. Thanks to Microsoft, you can remember Reach every time you turn on your Xbox 360.
