Call of Duty is doing so well, Activision is making another one
I know this isn’t much of a surprise, but here goes nothing. Activision has confirmed another Call of Duty game is in development for a 2012 release. We have no idea what it’ll be about or who the developer is, but chances are it’ll be released in late 2012 (probably in November). We really can’t more »

2011 in Review: Call of Duty still the top military shooter
The 2011 holiday season had a showdown between the third installments of the Modern Warfare and Battlefield franchises.
Amazon’s December 12 Deals of the Day are Call of Duty games
Well, Amazon’s video game Deals of the Day are going to make a large segment of the gaming population very happy this December 12, 2011. That’s because the games are all entries in Activision’s insanely popular Call of Duty series. It mainly applies to some of the more recent entries, but I’m sure people will be fine with that. After all, Call of Duty: Black Ops and Modern Warfare 3 aren’t all that old and I’m sure there are people out there that still don’t own them yet.
Anyways, here’s the full list of the games that are on sale right now…
Peter Moore believes Battlefield 3 stole Modern Warfare 3 market share
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 kept breaking industry records this Fall, selling 6.5 million units in 24 hours.
Despite Activision’s continued success with the franchise, EA COO Peter Moore, in an interview with Industry Gamers, pointed to BF3′s 5 million sold as evidence that the game is gaining ground. Moore said he felt the two games have both done a lot to grow the industry and that if BF3 hasn’t stolen market share, then it has added five million new first-person shooter fanatics.
He doesn’t address the possibility that at least some gamers purchased both high-profile games.
Beachhead Studios says Call of Duty: Elite should be fully operational December 1, 2011
Beachhead Studios, the team working on the Call of Duty: Elite social network, believes everything will be running fine December 1. Elite got off to a seriously rocky start. Beachhead’s VP of Production Daniel Suarez admitted less than 10 percent of the players who tried to log into the service launch week were able to. There was a beta for Elite but it was strictly for the PC. Suarez told G4 Beachhead expected more users would partake of the service on PC because it has more features. That wasn’t the case, as between 80-90 percent of Elite users are logging in from a console.
Activision working out problems with Call of Duty: Elite
Activision officials have repeatedly said the company wouldn’t do an online pass program for Call of Duty. It did institute the Call of Duty: Elite program a social network that aids in stat tracking and clan building. The network has both free and paid membership options. Whichever you choose, there’s a strong likelihood you have had problems logging in since the release of Modern Warfare 3, which signaled Elite‘s launch. Somehow, the same publisher responsible for Call of Duty and World of Warcraft underestimated the depth of infrastructure it would need for Elite.
Louisville football coach blames Modern Warfare 3 for team’s lack of focus
Hot on the heels of video games getting some blame for the Boston Red Sox’s collapse, a college football coach is convinced Modern Warfare 3 cost his team a game
Louisville Coach Charlie Strong thinks the November 8, 2011, release of the blockbuster shooter ruined his team’s preparation for a game against Pitt. Louisville lost 21-17, putting up only 73 yards of first-half offense. Strong said he learned of his athletes’ obsession on Twitter. Instead of talk about tackles, interceptions and touchdowns, the word on Twitter was about loadouts and kill-death ratios.
Call of Duty franchise breaks another record
As expected, Activision is going to make a ton of money off Modern Warfare 3. The publisher raised its financial outlook for the rest of the year under the assumption Modern Warfare 3 and Skylanders: Spryo’s Adventure would sell exceptionally well. Spryo is doing just fine, but MW3 is firmly in record-breaking territory. In one day, MW3 made over $400 million and sold over 6.5 million copies in North America and the United Kingdom.
Kmart’s November 6 – 12, 2011 sales mainly center around Call of Duty
As always, Kmart is catering to gamers November 6-12, 2011, just as it does every week. It doesn’t want to just get in the people who want the newest, big name games though. It wants everyone to come in and shop. To start things off right, Kmart has three general offers for Shop Your Way Reward Members. (It’s free to sign up for that.) If you buy over $40 worth of games, you get a $15 gaming coupon on your receipt for a future purchase. If you spend over $110 on games, you get a $50 gaming coupon. Finally, if you spend $20 or more on Doritos or Mountain Dew, you get a $10 gaming coupon.
Since Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (PS3, Xbox 360, Windows) is among the biggest releases this week, most of Kmart’s deals revolve around that series….
