Vietnam vet unhappy with timing of Call of Duty: Black Ops release date
As gamers across the country are enjoying their copies of Call of Duty: Black Ops, Vietnam Veteran Ron Parkes is not pleased. The East Kildonan, Winnepeg resident believes that Activision released the highly anticipated game to purposefully coincide with Veteran’s Day, which is on November 11, 2010. Call of Duty: Black Ops was released on November 9.
Amazon’s Gold Box is filled with war games
Amazon is trying to make war fun today (October 13, 2010) with a Gold Box event celebrating some of the best war games and shooters. If you keep visiting, you’ll see new war video games and shooters popping up for limited time sales on the site. Even Amazon’s Deal of the Day is a war game – the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. For a limited time, they’re only $36.99, instead of $59.99.
In fact, the whole affair is looking to be quite Call of Duty-centric. The first limited deal was the Greatest Hits edition of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare for the PS3 and the second was the Platinum Hits edition of Call of Duty: World at War for the Xbox 360. We’ll have to watch and see if this trend continues throughout the day…

Even more information on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2‘s “Stimulus Package” downloadable content has been revealed! The 329mb pack is a map pack that contains five new maps you can use for multiplayer matches. Two of the maps, Crash and Overgrown, are taken directly from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. The other three, Bailout, Storm and Salvage, are entirely new. If you’re interested, make sure you have spare money lying around as they’ll cost you 1,200 Microsoft Points.
The question is, are five new maps really worth 1,200 MP/$15…
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 PS3 patch 1.08 eliminates exploits
Anyone who’s been playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 online has probably seen the hackers. People have found ways to tweak the game to suit their means, like increasing how much experience could be gained to help people level up quicker. Some people even found a way to get infinite care packages to keep their stats up. My personal favorite exploit was a diabolical one that would penalize people who killed other people, sending them all the way back down to the first level. But those days are at an end.
Infinity Ward announced today via the Infinity Ward Forum that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2‘s latest patch, 1.08, will take care of all those troublesome and unfair exploits. No more XP hacks, no more infinite care packages…
Notable January 2010 video game releases (a polite reminder)
The tail end of 2009 was originally full of high-profile releases that were eventually pushed back. Some may say Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is the chief reason publishers decided to push some of their games to January 2010 and beyond. Whatever the reason, January 2010 is a busy month for videogame releases. Its more »

If you were looking for individuals with fast reaction times, tons of coordination experience the ability to think quickly in random situations look no further than the Xbox Live community. Playing games online with other humans is one of the best places to use your wits to outsmart and outmaneuver the opposition. GCHQ will run ads for six weeks on Xbox Live’s dashboard as well as within games including Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Assassin’s Creed 2 and Left 4 Dead 2.
Modern Warfare 2 not banned in Russia
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has done exceedingly well despite some bouts with controversy. That controversy probably helped boost its sales to higher levels than originally projected. A game such as this doesn’t sell 4 million copies without drawing some fire from unhappy organizations or countries
It was reported by GotPS3, and translated by Hellforge that MW2 was banned in Russia because of the infamous “No Russian” mission. The Russian government allegedly wanted that level to be taken out of the game and will relaunch it in one month.
Game Trends: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 spells doom for XBLA titles
If you sign into your Xbox Live account and take a look at your Friends list, chances are at least half of your friends are playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. This shouldn’t be surprising as Activision said MW2 sold 4.7 million copies in its first day of release in North America and the more »
Opinion: More studios need to follow Infinity Ward’s lead with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
A couple of days ago I was playing the solo campaign of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and I got to the much discussed “No Russian” mission. (Do yourself a favor and go get a copy of Modern Warfare 2.)
The mission puts the player in the shoes of a special forces operative who is working undercover in a Russian terrorist group. The terrorists arrive at an airport and proceed to shoot everybody in sight and then make their way out while cutting down the police. During the mission, the player can control this operative and in fact contribute to the massacre.
