The purpose of the panel was to showcase some of Henson’s lost cartoons and short films and also to talk about a new graphic novel that will be made based on his never-before released film A Tale of Sand.
Alternate Disc-tractions: Saturday Morning Cartoons 1980s DVD review
What do Mr. T, Chuck Norris, Ed Grimley and Monchichis have in common? Yep, they were all the feature creatures of cartoons produced in the 1980s.
Oh, it was not a proud decade. The 1980s really is the awkward teen era of animation, existing between successful prime-time cartoons, hand-drawn aniamtion and technological advancements and old-versus-new forms of marketing.
Anything with a hint of popularity became a Saturday morning cartoon, even if only for a short while, and only a few are remembered fondly. Warner Bros. has scooped up choice episodes of a few series and, instead of risking their conglomerate cash on a few failed series and a couple successes, offers an interesting sampling from the decade of puffy sleeves and, like, totally puffier hair.
Thunder, Thunder, Thunder, Thundercats returning in new animated series and as toys
Warner Bros. has joined forces with Bandai to resurrect (like Mumm-Ra) the Thundercats franchise.
Don’t lie, you know you’ve been waiting almost two decades for this.
Alternate Disc-Tractions: Drawn Together Movie: the Movie! DVD review
What do you get when you mix reality, cartoons, pointless vulgarity, and the big screen? Why the new Drawn Together movie of course.
Drawn Together Movie: The Movie is the brand new direct to DVD movie based off the popular TV show on Comedy Central. It has all the characters of the original series with much more pointless vulgarity. In fact, you know hear all the profanity and all the blurred out sex you couldn’t see on TV. It’s good to be a DVD!
The Drawn Together crew wake up to discover that their precious TV show has been canceled, and a man with a vendetta against them is out trying to erase them all with his I.S.R.A.E.L robot. It’s up to them to escape the robot and try to get their show back on the air.
Red vs. Blue ends tonight with episode #100
For all the fans of Rooster Teeth Production’s wacky web series Red Vs. Blue, this is a bittersweet date.
The 100th and final final episode of the comedy series that used the Halo engine to pioneer machinima – movies made out of in-game video footage – will be released this evening (June 27, 2007). This will also complete the storyline that began in 2003 and has included time travel, interspecies mating, talking bombs and all manner of animated military hijinks. Though Rooster Teeth will occasionally release Red vs. Blue specials, the 15 minute finale will be the end the series as we know it.
