Free Realms prepares for playoffs with NBA jerseys
Free Realms is now a little more sporty. I’m not talking about the Soccer Star job, I’m talking about a new addition to the cash shop. It seems Sony Online Entertainment knows that basketball fans can be quite devoted to their favorite teams and players, and has decided to provide an avatar update. If you don’t mind spending real money, you could get replicas of NBA jerseys for your avatar to wear…
Minecraft’s April Fools’ update is a Minecraft Store
Mojang’s got its April Fools’ gag in effect, and it playfully pokes at Valve’s Team Fortress 2. More specifically, at the cash shop. See, there’s now a fake Minecraft microtransaction shop filled with all kinds of ridiculous and overpriced items. Oh, and Steve Co. Supply Crates have been added to the game.
Since the Steve Co. boxes might be what leads you to The Minecraft Store cash shop, let’s start there…
Battlefield Heroes sports some MJ inspired threads (updated)
We can choose to look at EA’s actions in one of two ways – they’re either paying homage to the late Michael Jackson, or cashing in on his death. Either way it will release two awfully familiar costumers for Battlefield Heroes in July 2009.
The first costume is the Smooth Suit inspired by “Smooth Criminal” and the second is the Thuggin Outfit inspired by “Bad.” In order to get these costumes you’ll have to cough up 420 Battlefunds ($3), the currency used to purchase items in Battlefield Heroes…
Christmas comes to Mabinogi in the form of a pet, new character cards and events
Ah Nexon – just when I’m starting to get weaned off of Mabinogi by some other game, or due to just general boredom, you lure me back in with shiny new features or items. The holiday season has come to the free-to-play MMO, and it seems like there’s a Christmas spirit in the air. Aside from some spiffy general updates to the game, like the ability to own castles and houses, gestures for paying players, party boards, guild battles, a postal system and some guild updates, there are also some limited, special Christmas and wintery events, items and pets.
First of all, the events – frankly, there’s a staggering amount. Its a good thing people will be getting some days off soon, because they’ll need the spare time to take advantage of these new quests. The first event is Santa’s Requests, and it lasts from now (December 18, 2008) until December 28, 2008. Five Santas are scattered throughout Mabinogi, and they have some serious issues. If you help them out, you’ll get socks and cards you can trade in for gifts. A GM Housing sale is also being held from December 19 to January 6, 2009, so if you’re looking for a cheap home with low taxes, stop by the residential areas in Sen Mag and Dugald during this time…
