Test drive (and possibly destroy) CID the Dummy

Remember CID the Dummy? We talked about it way back in February? Yeah, it still isn’t out yet. Well, if you were curious about the PC, PS2, PSP and Wii game, which is now supposedly coming out sometime in the first quarter of 2009, there’s a free PC demo you can test at the official website.

I gave the demo a try and, while it isn’t revolutionary or earth shattering, it’s free fun. Its basically a tutorial and then sends you to a graveyard level to practice what you’ve learned. It isn’t too bad for free. Windows 2000 or better and DirectX 9.0c or better are required to play the 275mb demo…

CID the Dummy gets a Wii mini-game collection

Another Wii mini-game collection has been announced. Take deep breaths people, you can get through this. Party Crashers, a collection of 25 mini-games featuring CID the Dummy crash test dummies, will be released in April 2009.

Some titles for the mini-games, like “Pie in the Face”, “Dummy Cannonball”, “Pizza Delivery” and “Dummy Dance,” have been announced, but no screen shots or descriptions have been provided. “Pizza Delivery” sure sounds promising, doesn’t it? Just kidding – it doesn’t.

It will also feature that one gameplay notion we all adore – unlocking. All the mini-games aren’t instantly available – you have to master some open ones to unlock them. Not the best idea for a mini-game collection people are going to want to pick up and play. I bet the developers were thinking that unlocking would force people to play and add replay value – it won’t. People will just get frustrated and trade it in for something better.

CID the Dummy to hit all platforms

Crash Test Dummies were so 1990, but Oxygen Int. and Twelve Interactive are hoping to restore life to the inanimate dummy. CID the Dummy has been announced as an upcoming release for the DS, PC, PS2, PSP and Wii. It should be available by the end of 2008. It is designed to be a lighthearted platformer/action game for all ages. This may just be me, but when I first saw the press release and images, the first thing that leapt to mind was Death Jr., only with a dummy.
