Circuit City announces a pre-Black Friday online sale

Circuit City, yes Circuit City, has announced that it is holding a pre-Black Friday 2009 sale. The stores may be gone in the US, but the online store lives on. All the deals are available online until November 15, 2009. So if there’s something you want, quick order it now. Also, many of the products have a 30 day guarantee.

There’s really only one video game deal though. You can get the new Xbox 360 video game Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 for $55.99. If you want it, quick get on and order it quick. If you’re looking for a gaming computer or TV to hook your consoles up to though, you may be in luck.

Take a look at the sale items available…

Circuit City video game clearance not very impressive (so far)

With retailer Circuit City giving up the ghost, The Ledger’s Kyle Kennedy decided to check out some of their game clearance items and came away less than impressed.

Likewise, I went to my local Circuit City and realized quickly why I have never purchased a game there. A large number of the games are so overpriced a 10 percent discount is still a ripoff. I found Ninja Gaiden II still going for $39.99 at Circuit City, a full $10 above competitors…

Circuity City closing in US, liquidation sales imminent

It’s all over now folks. The downhill roller coaster ride that Circuit City has been on since filing for bankruptcy in November 2008 has finally come to an end. The Associated Press is reporting the retailer will liquidate the remaining 567 stores in the United States after failing to find a buyer for the company. more »

Circuit City begs for your business, has a few holiday deals

You know a company is hurting when, on the inside of one of its print adverts, an executive for the company is essentially begging for your business.

In a half-page segment printed to look like a lovely letter sent just to you from Circuit City Stores, Inc.’s Vice Chairman, Jim Marcum, the company admits that it “lost sight of what is important – you, our customers,” and promises a “much better store experience” and that you “can continue to shop with confidence.” It also goes on to promise that “[r]eturns and exchanges will be done quickly and easily and gift cards and Circuit-City-branded credit cards will be honored at more than 500 locations nationwide.” You can check out the full letter in the Photo Gallery.

On to the game deals. The prices in this advert are effective December 7 through December 13, 2008…

Circuit City’s Cyber Monday 2008 game deal – buy a game, get a gift card

Circuit City‘s Cyber Monday 2008 sale is somewhat lackluster. At least, when it comes to video games its fairly anticlimactic. If you purchase one of ten select DS, PS3, Wii or Xbox 360 games, you will receive a $10 Circuit City gift card. Of course, with Circuit City declaring bankruptcy and closing so many stores, this deal may not be the smartest one to bet on.

All of the games are quite popular ones. Nintendo games elligible for this deal are Animal Crossing: City Folk (Wii), Animal Crossing: Wild World (DS), Prince of Persia: The Fallen King (DS) and Wii Music (Wii). Call of Duty: World at War (PS3 or Xbox 360), Gears of War 2 (Xbox 360), Prince of Persia (PS3 or Xbox 360) and Resistance 2 (PS3) are also part of the deal. Oddly enough, many of the participating games are unavailable, as the Prince of Persia games are listed as pre-orders and the Prince of Persia: The Fallen King game is shown as coming soon, with no option to even place an order…

Circuit City’s Black Friday 2008 video game deals revealed

Hot on the heels of what may be the Best Buy Black Friday 2008 ad comes Circuit City’s ad. Its filled with sales on quite a few games, though Sony’s PSP, PS2 and PS3 seem a bit under-represented when compared to the DS, Wii and Xbox 360. Even so, it looks like Circuit City, which recently declared bankruptcy, is using Black Friday this year to make a stand.

Before we get into the sale listings, I’d like to make note that the two DS bundles and the PS3 and Xbox 360 Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock bundles are limited sales. They’ll only be reduced from 5am to 11am on Black Friday. All other deals will last for Black Friday and the following Saturday.

The deals from the leaked ad, organized by system, are as follows…

Gears of War 2 + Circuit City = $20 in Free Microsoft Points

Now that the second Gears of War adventure has garnered stellar reviews, it is a foregone conclusion that gamers will do whatever is necessary to obtain a copy, if only so they can figure out who is the best player among them. Of course, it’s not always easy to know the best place to acquire a game.

While Circuit City may be on the decline, they have still found a way to make themselves relevant in the gaming market. According to 1UP, gamers who preorder the game will receive a free 1600 Microsoft Point card…

Circuit City to sell used games

Retail giant Circuit City has decided to start selling used games after a successful pilot program in 10 of its stores. Ars Technica reports that Circuit City found an “increase in customer traffic” during the year-long trial, and hopes that the new chain-wide program will help them compete with current king of gaming retail Gamestop/EB more »
