Get a free game when you buy a Wii or PS3 at Toys ‘R Us

If you need a Wii or PS3, Toys ‘R Us is the store to go to between August 29 and September 4, 2010. The store has two promotions running right now where if you buy a system, you’ll get a free game. Granted, the free game for the Wii is rather childish, but still. A free game is a free game…

Amazon sellling Japanese Classic Controller Pros at premium prices

Usually, if you want an import video game controller or peripheral, you head to a specialty store either online or near you. If you’re looking for a Classic Controller Pro though, that isn’t necessary. Amazon is now carrying both the black and white Japanese Classic Controller Pros for the Wii. When they’re in stock, they’re $34.99, and should work with any Wii regardless of region.

At the moment, the black, Japanese version of the Classic Controller Pro is out of stock at Amazon. You can buy it from other sellers, but Amazon is temporarily out of them. Amazon does still have the white Classic Controller Pro. It seems that it can take some time to acquire though, as instead of shipping immediately like most Amazon products, it takes between two and four weeks to ship.

Of course, it may be a better idea to wait for the North American versions of the Classic Controller Pros…

Monster Hunter Tri comes with Classic Controller Pro

When Monster Hunter Tri was released back in Japan on August 1, 2009, it was available alone and in a special bundle that included a black Wii and Classic Controller Pro. Well, North America isn’t going to be fortunate enough to get the black Wii, but there will be a Monster Hunter Tri and Classic Controller Pro bundle available when the game is released April 6, 2010. The bundle will come with the game and a black Classic Controller Pro for $59.99.

You don’t have to buy the bundle though. Monster Hunter Tri will be available alone for $49.99. The Classic Controller Pro will also be available separately for $19.99 in either white or black. Nintendo doesn’t offer a specific release date for the Classic Controller Pro, so it looks like you’ll have to wait until April, 2010 for the new controller.

Monster Hunter Tri is the first entry in the series on the Wii, and includes 18 new monsters, Wii Speak support…

Japanese Import: Hori Classic Controller for Wii

In some production lab deep within the mountains of Japan, Japanese peripheral company Hori spliced together a Nintendo GameCube controller, Nintendo Wii functionality and a whole lot of auto-firing.

The result on that stormy night was the Hori Classic Controller. Hori’s take on the “classic controller” offers two auto-fire settings (double and triple from the looks of it) for every button via a switch. It also looks like it’s mainly for use with…

Nyko creates the Wing – a wireless Classic Controller for the Wii

Nyko’s shown that it is interested in developing peripherals for the Wii (previous examples being the Cord-Free for Wii Nunchuk and the Kama Nunchuk), so it should come as no surprise that it has created a new, wireless Classic Controller alternative. The Nyko Wing comes with a wireless remote adapter that plugs into the bottom of the Wii remote.

The Wing has the same basic layout as the Classic Controller attachment from Nintendo, with a shape that is reminiscent of a PS1 or PS2 controller. It can be used 10 feet away from the Wiimote and its adapter. It uses two AAA batteries which last 30 hours, and has a USB port and cable for charging rechargable batteries. It is a bit pricey though – a normal Classic Controller is $19.99, and the Nyko Wing is going to be $29.99 when its released in October 2008…
