Retro game show California Extreme completes another successful year
This weekend (July 18, 2010 to be exact) I went to a classic arcade show called California Extreme. It was a two-day event that featured hundreds of playable classic arcade and pinball games, available to play for free. This was the show’s 14th year and held in Santa Clara, California.

Upcoming Tecmo Bowl Throwback patch may penalize give online quitters
Tecmo Bowl Throwback, the modern console remake of 16-bit era classic Tecmo Super Bowl, launched last week with one glaring problem. The player on the end of a beatdown could “ragequit” without incurring a loss. Back in the olden days of Tecmo Bowl, you had to jump up and hit the reset button on the console. You would then incur the scorn of everyone in the room.

Classic Atari games arriving on Xbox Live
Now that Asteroids and Asteroids Deluxe are available on Xbox Live Arcade, Atari has announced that three other classic arcade titles are on their way for the service. Arkanoid rolls onto DS in Japan
Japanese DS gamers are about to get a true blast from the past in the form of updated classic Arkanoid DS. The new title will feature 140 levels of brick breaking action, and even an optional paddle controller that emulates the true arcade feel. The new controller plugs into the GBA game port on the bottom of the DS, though gamers can opt to use the touch screen and stylus.
