Cliffy B promises big Gears of War 3 surprise at 2010 Spike TV’s Video Game Awards

Not that video game lovers needed another reason to tune into the Spike TV Video Game Awards, but Epic Games is giving us one. Epic Games Design Director Cliff Bleszinski announced some exciting gameplay that’s “not what you’re expecting” from the much loved shooter series. “Cliffy B” isn’t giving out more than that, but has shot down rumors that Microsoft’s Kinect motion control would be used.

Cliffy B compares Gears of War violence to extreme version of Looney Tunes

Epic Games Design Director Cliff Bleszinski, known better as Cliffy B to his fans, wants people to know that neither game makers or gamers are warped.

He told the BBC that the blood and violence in the famous Gears of War series is really about “feedback and interactivity” for the player. Cliffy B said Gears is inspired by his love of ’80s action thrillers including Predator and Aliens . So it’s no surprise the Gears games draw heavily from sci-fi cliches. A musclebound squad of alpha males are humanity’s only hope against a cadre of ugly, lizard-like aliens known as the Locust Horde.

These days, it seems like every disgruntled employee for a major developer is complaining about his or her job.

New video series focuses on the evolving videogame industry

Videogames albeit fun, are big business. The changes the industry is currently going through is unlike anything experienced before. If you want to hear what some of the biggest developers of the industry have to say about the evolution of gaming, you may want to check out Game Theory with Scott Steinberg.

Gears of War movie has hit several snags

The road from videogame-to-film adaptation seldom runs smoothly. The attempts to put Gears of War on the big screen have had several major setbacks. At San Diego Comic Con 2010, Epic Games’ Cliff Bleszinski said the whole thing is being reworked. Cinema Blend reports on the reworkings, coming from problems New Line Cinema is having with the project.

In April 2010, director Len Wiseman (Underworld) bowed out of the troubled project. Bleszinski said New Line Cinema has concerns about funding a $100 million project with an “R” rating and no romance.

New Gears of War 3 cast member revealed

Remember when I wrote that Cliff Bleszinski tweeted last night about someone joining the Gears of War 3 cast? Well, in a latest tweet he revealed that it’ll be Canadian actor/rapper Drake, who will be playing the role of Jace Stratton in the game.

Drake is the stage name for Aubrey Graham, who is best known for his role of Jimmy Brooks in Degrassi: The Next Generation. Drake is his middle name. Props to those who watched this awesome show back in the day!

Gears of War 3 gets its official announcement, more details revealed

Epic Games Design Director Cliff Bleszinski acknowledged Gears of War 3 was the worst kept secret in the video game industry during his April 12, 2010, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon appearance.

The three-way battle between the COG soldiers, Locust Horde and mutated Horde offshoot The Lambent continues in the sequel due out April 5, 2011.

Xbox 360 dashboard spoils Gears of War 3 reveal

O.K., it comes as little surprise that Epic Games’ big announcement is Gears of War 3, coming in April 2011 for the Xbox 360. However, since a much hyped reveal is going to take place April 12 on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, the announcement on Xbox 360 dashboards today jumped the lancer just a bit.

Cliff Bleszinski’s late night game reveal pushed to April 12, 2010

Video game fans will have to wait a couple of days to see what charismatic game designer Cliff Bleszinski will unveil on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. CliffyB has delayed his appearance until April 12, 2010…

Epic’s Cliff Bleszinski to reveal new game on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon

It can be hard for late-night talk show hosts to figure out their particular niche (jusk ask Conan O’ Brien) but NBC host Jimmy Fallon is the undisputed king of late-night video game coverage. He has challenged Tiger Woods to a Wii golf match, aired a lengthy display of Project Natal’s capabilities and even done video game oriented comedy segments. My favorite was a Kobe Bryant basketball simulation without a passing button.

Now Epic game designer Cliff “Cliffy B” Bleszinski is going to reveal a new video game on the April 8, 2010, episode of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. Speculation is that it will be…
