Just because you didn’t pre-order Bulletstorm or participate in one of the many internet giveaways doesn’t mean you can’t play the Gears of War 3 multiplayer beta. Epic and Microsoft is putting the responsibility on current beta players to get as many people as they can into the game. If you have a friend who is in the Gears 3 beta, start begging them for the extra beta code Epic Games and Microsoft will give to them. The beta user can also perform certain actions that will result in more codes for their friends.

This week is a good week to sign into Sony PlayStation Home if you haven’t already.

Today (June 2, 2009) and throughout the E3 Conference players are being awarded free items for their avatars as well as sneak peeks at upcoming games at the Presentation Podium. Between interviews with publishers and developers of PlayStation games Sony is flashing codes that will unlock freebies.

Today’s broadcast featured a sneak peek of upcoming game Heavy Rain by Sony Computer Entertainment so I went on YouTube to find the trailer for a closer look. Not exactly the one shown at E3 but this video will show you how gorgeous the game looks, check it out:

If you’ve been paying attention to Sony’s free-to-play MMO Free Realms, you’ll have noticed that the company has implemented a rather novel way of aquiring unique items. While there are the typical giveaways, for example the special avatar cap given to beta testers or the Station Cash and avatar shirt given to the first 999,999 players, there are also little extra items players can receive by acquiring codes. For example, a code (rosesformom) for a bouquet of flowers was made available on Mother’s Day.

There are numerous ways to find these codes. For example, some can show up in the News section on the Free Realms site. Be sure to check that section before you start playing. Codes have also been known to appear in magazine ads. You can’t always be alert and searching for codes, so it’s good to know places you can go to find codes that are guaranteed to work.

Kotaku got in touch with Lionhead Community Manager, Sam Van Tilburgh, to see how things were coming along in regards to both a patch that is supposed to fix the “Abbot Glitch,” a few other bugs and those missing Limited Edition game codes.
