GamesCom 2010: Sucker Punch shows off inFamous 2′s new superpowers

Sucker Punch’s Infamous really allowed gamers to let loose and feel like a superpowered being running wild in a big city. Infamous 2 moves to a southern setting in the New Orleans-inspired berg of New Marais, and hero Cole McGrath is getting a whole new slate of powers. Cole’s powers are electricity-based, so he appears to be using electromagnetism to toss cars at foes. Ah, car tossing. It’s Superhero 101, really.

Here’s why Sucker Punch changed Cole’s voice actor for inFamous 2

inFamous was a surprise hit for Sony and Sucker Punch. It sold so well, Sucker Punch decided it was worthy of a sequel. Everyone was shocked (no pun intended) when new Cole was revealed as a younger, more hip character. Not only did Cole’s character model change, but so did Cole’s voice actor. So why did Sucker Punch virtually start from scratch with a character most people seemed to love? The inFamous team answered this question during a panel at Comic-Con.

Electrifying inFamous 2 details

Late last week Game Informer revealed inFamous 2 as the cover game in its July issue. Scans from the magazine have unsurprisingly made it to the internet revealing a few details about the sequel. We knew we could expect the usual elements to be present such as new abilities, enemies and locations. You want to know what’s in store for Cole Mcgrath the second time around? We have you covered.

inFamous 2 announcement shocks no one

You may notice the main character looks nothing like the Cole McGrath we used to know. Though we still play as Cole, he has ditched his messenger outfit in favor of a tight fitting shirt, skinny jeans and a goatee. He looks younger and slightly more mischievous than before. Cole says goodbye to Empire City and its underground generators, and hello to a brand new city complete with new powers and enemies.

Infamous 2 teased in Portuguese magazine

Infamous was one of Sony’s shockingly impressive titles of 2009. Despite the initial comparisons to PROTOTYPE, Infamous came into its own and was clearly the superior title. We’ve gotten hints on an Infamous sequel due to a Twitter post about voice auditions and Sony’s registering of Infamous2thegame.com.
