Xfinity On Demand coming to Xbox 360 in “the coming months”
Microsoft is staying strangely silent on the details surrounding its new partnerships with 40 television network and cable providers to bring more television content to the Xbox 360. We’ve had to obtain more information from Verizon and Comcast instead. Verizon has revealed the need for customers to be signed up for three subscription services to access its live and on-demand content on Xbox 360. Comcast has announced Xfinity On Demand is what it’s bringing to the table.
Xbox TV announcement expected sometime today
The Xbox TV rumors have picked up over the past couple weeks. Microsoft has reportedly gotten the blessing of Verizon and Comcast to offer some of its content on Xbox 360 consoles. A source told AllThingsD Microsoft will announce the fruits of those partnerships today. But if you’re someone who has already gotten rid of your cable service, these upcoming announcements will most likely mean nothing to you.
Xbox 360 TV service announcements could come next week
A little over a week ago, sources for Digiday said Microsoft was in talks with Verizon and Comcast to deliver a television service on the Xbox 360. The sources said the Xbox 360 would take the place of a traditional cable box and will allow customers to purchase television services on the fly. A new report from Bloomberg backs up those claims and says announcements could be made sometime next week.
Rumor: Comcast and Verizon are supporters of Xbox TV
During E3, Microsoft announced live television (both local and national channels) will be coming to the Xbox 360. Since then, details about the service have been scarce. One of the biggest questions was whether the Xbox 360 would compete with traditional cable providers, or merely work beside them. Sources for Digiday are now saying Microsoft isn’t going to go head to head with cable providers. The Xbox 360 will serve as an alternative cable box instead.

DirecTV released a statement saying G4 is one of its lowest-rated channels, thus DirecTV didn’t feel it was worth continuing. The Comcast-owned network released a statement of its own, blasting DirecTV for denying fans the only channel that focuses on “the popular gaming lifestyle.”
DirectTV drops G4 from programming schedule
On Monday (November 1, 2010), satellite and cable TV provide DirecTV officially stopped carrying the G4 station.
Comcast, G4′s owner, had been in negotiations with DirecTV to keep the station in the provider’s lineup. The negotiations ended on Halloween (October 31, 2010)…
Comcast’s Dark Knight online Flash game
If you are a Batman fan, loved The Dark Knight movie and cannot wait to play the movie-based videogame, well, you pretty much have to keep waiting waiting. But, if you can settle for an online Flash game based on the movie, Comcast has posted Gotham City Street Chase for you to play.
The game is a pretty straightforward side-to-side shooter, where you dodge oncoming cars and blast vans driven by the Joker’s henchmen, who are also tossing bombs a you. Periodically crash the BatPod through crates for extra life and extra points so you can…
