PlayStation Vita out December 17 in Japan
Sony is holding its pre-TGS 2011 press conference right now from Japan. This press conference is focusing on the PlayStation Vita. It has just been revealed that the PlayStation Vita will be available in Japan on December 17, 2011. The prices for the Wi-Fi and 3G models for the Vita haven’t changed. Sony is only talking about the Japanese release for the Vita. Dates for North America and Europe are still unknown.
3DS product announcement conference takes place September 13
On September 13, 2011, Nintendo will be holding a press conference from Tokyo, Japan. The event will also be streamed to the internet on Ustream. We expect Nintendo to talk about some upcoming 3DS games. What’s particularly interesting about this event is that it’s being billed as a “Nintendo 3DS new product announcement conference.”
Videogames could aid the criminal justice system
Videogames could prevent someone from doing hard time. Conversely, they can also be used to sink someones alibi. This is what a security consultant named Brandon Nesbit is going to talk about during the DEFCON security conference on August 1, 2010. Nesbit will be explaining how consoles such as the PS3 and the PC can be used to help investigators who are looking to close a case.
Mobile devices will overtake Xbox 360 graphics in a year
The increasingly busy lives of gamers has never been more apparent than now. We find ourselves playing games in shorter bursts than we used to. Sure we’ll always make time to spend 100 hours in a single game, but we need something different inbetween. This is why mobile gaming has gotten so popular. They’re easy to download, cheap to buy and only take up a fraction of our time. Products such as the iPhone and iPad have shown that traditional handheld consoles are entering a highly competitive market. It’s believed that mobile platforms will eventually overtake consoles in every department including graphics.
PlayStation Home Update: E3 2010 Space recreates booth, several new places to explore
For those who wanted to attend the E3 conference center in person can now visit the center virtually on Home to see the latest updates and interviews, watch trailers for upcoming games and snag all the exclusive freebies from outfits to furniture by simply watching the trailers and visiting the VIP area every day.
The next space to make its way to Home soon is the upcoming Playground featuring a street in downtown Brooklyn, New York. There’s also a space dedicated to the 2010 Fifa World Cup called FevaArena Stadium and two new Disgaea 3 Spaces. Also look for a big ol’ list of stuff to buy to pamper your avatar…
Many game companies, analysts disappointed with E3 2008
Not many attendees were impressed with this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3). During an interview held Thursday, (July 17, 2008) Shigeru Miyamoto, Nintendo’s senior managing director and general manager of entertainment analysis and the development division, told MSNBC that even though many fans of long running Nintendo franchise games such as Mario, Zelda or even StarFox were upset he felt that E3 was no longer a place for those types of game.

EA’s CEO defends video game industry on violence issue
During the Royal Television Society’s Cambridge Convention held September 14, 2007, Electronic Arts’ chief executive officer, John Riccitiello, stood up for the gaming industry after ITV’s executive chairman, Michael Grade, attacked the industry calling it a “moral vacuum.”
“Those acts of violence [shown in games] exist in a moral vacuum, whereas in films and television, it is set in a moral context, with real consequences, such as pain,” argued Grade.
