ColumbiaCon set for February 2012

ColumbiaCon-Logo

If you want more opponents, and you’re anywhere near Charlottesville, Virginia (USA), check out ColumbiaCon, held February 22 through 26, 2012. Here’s why…

Call of Duty XP 2011: Two-day event for COD community

On September 2 and 3, Activision will be holding a massive event dedicated to the Call of Duty franchise. It’s called Call of Duty XP 2011, and it will be held in the Los Angeles, CA area. During these two days, fans will be able to participate in a large amount of CoD-related activities such as being the first members of the public to try the multiplayer component of Modern Warfare 3. Tickets to the event will be $150 and they will go on sale from July 19th. Activision will announce the exact time as to when the tickets will be available on July 12.

PaizoCon 2011 sure to be a hit

Paizocon 2011 is on track to run in Bellevue, Washington, this June 10-12. It’s come a long way from Paizocon 2008, with a mere thirty people in attendance. This year’s convention has 26 guests of honor and 81 events currently scheduled and it wouldn’t surprise me if this year’s convention gets close to selling out all 500 tickets.

Blizzcon 2011 will be held October 21 – 22, 2011

Diablo, StarCraft and World of Warcraft better save the dates October 21-22, 2011. Blizzard’s going to be holding the sixth ever Blizzcon then. Of course, saving the date won’t do much good if you can’t get tickets. Since the ticket sale date hasn’t been announced yet, it doesn’t hurt to circle those dates on your calendar.

As usual, Blizzcon 2011 will be held in Anaheim, California at the Anaheim Convention Centre…

Jump Festa 2011: Publishers start announcing game lineups

Shueisha’s 2011 Jump Festa is being held December 18-19, 2010 and video game companies are already RSVPing and even announcing some of the games they’ll be bringing to the manga, anime and video game convention that primarily celebrates series that appear in Weekly Shonen Jump. So anyone fortunate enough to make it to Chiba, Japan and the Makuhari Messe Convention Center will not only get to buy lots of goodies and see lots of stage shows and exclusive exhibits, they’ll also get to see some anticipated video games…

Check out the Blizzcon 2010 schedule

BlizzCon 2010 is in two weeks, and it’s time for people to start getting ready. The convention tickets are being mailed out to attendees and Blizzard has released a schedule for the four main stages at the event so people can start making their plans now. After all, there’s nothing worse than getting the schedule the day of the event and having no time to look up the presentations and see which are worth attending. This year’s schedule should please World of Warcraft, Warcraft II and StarCraft II fans, as well as anyone who’s been going crazy waiting for Diablo III

2010 Ankama Convention scheduled for April 17-18, 2010

The next Ankama Convention has just been announced. The fifth annual Ankama Convention, a place for fans of DOFUS and Wakfu to celebrate the games, meet and talk with Ankama employees and try out the newest Ankama games, will take place April 17-18, 2010. The event will be held in Paris at Hall 5 of the Porte de Versailles. It’s only a two day event, but the convention will run from 9am to 7pm both days.

There are three kinds of passes available, a two day premium pass that costs €35 ($48), a day pass that costs €12 ($16.50) and an accompanying pass that costs €12 ($16.50). In case you’re wondering, the accompanying pass is for parents of children under 12, and is a two day pass. It lets you into the Ankama Convention both days, but doesn’t let you get a gift pack or participate in events.

The are multiple incentives for DOFUS fans to take the plunge and splurge on a trip to Paris and attend the Ankama Convention…

PAX 2009 schedule announced

The independent gamers gathering, Penny Arcade Expo (aka PAX), has made it to a sixth year (which cannot be said for some corporate sponsored expos). The event will take place September 4 through 6, 2009, at the Washington State Convention and Trade Center in downtown Seattle, Washington.

The family-friendly gaming event admits anyone who can afford a ticket and promises, according to the press release sent today (August 12, 2009), “43 hours of content over three days, featuring a plethora of tournaments, freeplay areas, geek movies, nerdcore concerts and panels by industry leaders on gamer lifestyle, challenges, education and careers.” Aside from the relatively low amount of adult content at the event (with the exception of the nerdcore performances), the event also embraces all types of gaming…

Mid-Ohio-Con 2008: Comics, games, Hulk, Jay and the Batmobile

After getting shut down, resurrected by new owners, moved to a new venue and taking place two month earlier than normal, the Mid-Ohio-Con (aka MOC) was this past weekend (October 4-5, 2008) at the Columbus Convention Center in Columbus, OH (USA). The convention is typically a showcase for Ohio area comic book artists and stores with a smattering of additional celebrity guests and other goodies.

There were two videogame booths a the MOC, one for Ninja Gaiden and the other was promoting Soul Calibur IV. There were a few celebrities, several big-name comic artists, the Batmobile and costumes aplenty…
