HD Tomb Raider trilogy gracing PS3 in 2011
Add Tomb Raider to the growing list of videogame franchises that are being released in high definition. In 2011, three older Tomb Raider games will be coming to the PlayStation 3. The listing for this game originally appeared on the German Amazon site, and was later confirmed by the global brand director for Crystal Dynamics on Twitter.
Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light is iPhone bound
Tomorrow Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light will be released on the North American App Store for the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. It will sell from $6.99 to $9.99 and will take up 306MB of your device’s storage capacity. This game’s controls have been changed to compliment the touched based platform, but mostly everything else seems to be intact.
Fresh Tomb Raider details leak out
Square Enix officially announced Tomb Raider yesterday. Tomb Raider is a reboot of the franchise that will start by telling the origins of Lara Croft. The first details on the game are included in the January 2011 issue of Game Informer magazine. Since this is the internet, scans from the magazine have already been leaked. Layoffs hit Crystal Dynamics after disappointing Tomb Raider Underworld sales
In the wake of what Eidos considered lackluster holiday sales for Tomb Raider Underworld, developer Crystal Dynamics laid off approximately 30 people on Friday (January 9, 2009), according to Kotaku. Ironically, Crystal Dynamics is the developer hailed for breathing life back into the Tomb Raider franchise after it had become synonymous with sequelitis.
Even Underworld doesn’t seem to be a flop by reasonable standards, having sold 1.5 million units in a crowded holiday season filled with blockbuster titles.
