Homefront sequel will be built on Crytek’s CryEngine

We’ve known about a Homefront sequel for many months, but weren’t too sure who would develop the game ever since Kaos Studios was closed down in June. In a very unexpected turn of events, THQ has revealed Crytek as the new developer for the next Homefront.

The Xbox 360 and PS3 can run Crysis this October [Update]

Crysis 2 may have started life on home consoles and the PC, but the original Crysis was different. For a while, Crysis was the game that determined an individual PC’s gaming prowess. A rule of thumb was if your PC could run Crysis, it could run just about anything. In October of this year, Crytek is stripping Crysis of its PC exclusivity and putting the game on PS3 and Xbox 360.

Crysis 2 PS3 demo is getting shut down

The Crysis 2 multiplayer demos haven’t really been a beacon of hope for Crytek. When the Xbox 360 multiplayer demo was released, it came with a whole mess of problems. Players had a tough time connecting to games, and console freezes were prominent. Crytek worked to fix those problems, but they have apparently popped up on the PS3 multiplayer demo for Crysis 2 as well. The demo was released on the PlayStation Store this past Tuesday, and it will be gone by Friday.

Crysis 2 won’t require EA’s Online Pass

EA’s somewhat controversial Online Pass won’t be included in Crytek’s upcoming FPS Crysis 2. The Online Pass is a code that is included with new copies of EA published games that provide access to that game’s multiplayer content. Without the pass, users can either play multiplayer for a couple days during a trial period, or pay $10 for a new code. Crytek ushered in a rare occasion in which a developer has decided the Online Pass is a feature its game could do without.

Crysis 2 leaked online

A near complete version of Crysis 2 has found its way out the hands of Crytek, and into the hands of pirates. Crysis 2 can now be found on certain torrent sides around the internet. For obvious reasons, we aren’t going to let you know where to find it. It’s not the complete version of Crysis 2, but there is apparently enough content to be a significant problem.

Crysis 2 multiplayer demo is in crisis mode

The Crysis 2 multiplayer demo was released on Xbox Live yesterday (January 25, 2011). Upon starting the demo and choosing a save location for data, many players (including myself) started experiencing all kinds of connection issues. Crytek is aware of these problems and is on the case.

EA guarantees Crysis 2 will be ranked 90 percent or better

EA’s David DeMartini, head of the EA Partners label working with Crytek, declared in an interview with Eurogamer Crysis 2 will be rated in the 90th percentile by game reviewers. Ahem, no pressure there, Crytek. The sci-fi themed shooter was initially looking to release holiday season 2010, but got pushed back to March 2011. That puts it squarely in the shadow of another sci-fi shooter, Gears of War 3 which is coming out in April 2011.

Piracy slowly killing PC games

In May 2008, Crytek announced that it will be abandoning PC exclusivity due to problems with pirated copies of Crysis. Now, Ubisoft Shanghai creative director Michael de Plater revealed to Videogaming247 reasons why the copany won’t bring the anticipated EndWar to the PC.

Ubisoft has been having such big problems with piracy of Assassin’s Creed that they sued the disc’s manufacturers, Optical Experts Manufacturing. This is because the PC-version was leaked to the public two months before the…

Play Crysis Wars for free starting October 6, 2008

A lot of us gamers might cringe even at the headline, swearing it’s impossible to run anything with the word Crysis in it on our computers. I’m sure there are a good number of hardcore PC gamers out there that can comfortably run Crysis with no problems at all and that is why EA and Crytek are giving players the chance to experience Crysis Wars online for free from October 10, 2008 through October 12, 2008.

Crysis Wars is the online multiplayer component to Crysis Warhead that features four gameplay modes spread out across 21 different maps. Just because we can play this game for free doesn’t mean it’s going to be a…
