Dark Horse Comics and Square Enix prepare Dungeon Siege III web comic
You will not believe it, Dungeon Siege III is going to be out on May 31, 2011! It’s only a little over two months away! Aren’t you just so excited? Yeah, I’m not all that hyped about it either. I suppose it’s the flurry of releases like BulletStorm, Crysis 2, Pokemon White/Black and Dragon Age II that make it difficult to worked up about Dungeon Siege III. Sure, it’s good news, but it may not inspire the same buzz as other games. Hopefully, Dark Horse Comics and Square Enix’s new digital comic will help with that…
An old friend to return in Mass Effect Evolution’s second issue
Remember our good friend Saren from the original Mass Effect game? Ah, that xenophobic madman brings back so many memories.
Well, if you’ve been missing Saren after thwarting his plans in the Mass Effect, you can witness his return to the series. No, it isn’t the next Mass Effect game. He’s showing up in the next issue of the comic book series Mass Effect: Evolution.
Mass Effect comic details Illusive Man’s origins
Who is the Illusive Man? What did he use to do before he was the leader of Cerberus, and how did he ascend to that position? You may find some answers in the upcoming comic book series Mass Effect: Evolution. Part 1 was released today (January 19th, 2011), with Mass Effect 2‘s Mac Walters as Lead Writer, co-written by John Jackson Miller (Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic), and art by Omar Francia (Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2).
Fallout: New Vegas comic available on iTunes
This is one bit of information that almost slipped by us. There was a lot of Apple related news today, but only a small portion of it pertained to games. We’ve got just the thing to satisfy both the needs of Apple and comic book fans. A graphic novel called Fallout: New Vegas – All Roads has been released in the App Store for free.
San Diego Comic Con 2010: More about Mass Effect’s Illusive Man
Games walk a tightrope in terms of character development. They need to have enough story to keep players interested but don’t need to bog gamers down with one-hour cut scenes. That’s a great place for comic books to jump in and flesh out story that games don’t have time for. So it is with Dark Horse’s Mass Effect books. At San Diego Comic 2010, Dark Horse will talk a little more about a new series, Mass Effect: Evolution, dealing with one of the RPG’s most mysterious characters, the Illusive Man….
Important Importables Review: Clover by CLAMP
In 2001, Tokyopop released the four volume, unfinished manga series, Clover by the mangaka group CLAMP. It was a unique release and stood out among the company’s other titles – the books were thin, oversized and more expensive than Tokyopop’s other series. Each also had a unique, paper-thin, transparent slipcover.
In 2008, the four volumes of Clover were rereleased in Japan. Dark Horse Comics then took it upon itself to reintroduce North America to what could be considered CLAMP’s most experimental work, the Omnibus Edition of Clover. This massive tome contains all four existing volumes of the series, along with a full-color bonus art gallery…
Gamertell Review: Mass Effect: Redemption #1 for iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad
If there is one thing BioWare does right with its games, it’s make you want to consume the narrative anyway you can get it.
Be it playing through a 30- to 80-hour game, reading and digesting hundreds of codex entries like some ancient monk locked away in a remote convent or reading multiple, full-fledged novels (or maybe just Wikipedia) and even, in this instance, reading a comic book. Mass Effect Redemption is a four-part comic book that chronicles some back story for Mass Effect 2 and supposedly will tie-in to some future downloadable content.
Mass Effect: Redemption #1 sells out
Fans just can’t seem to get of Mass Effect, especially with the recent release of Mass Effect 2 around the calendar corner on January 26, 2010.
Dark Horse’s newly released comic book (February 3, 2010) Mass Effect:Redemption #1, sold out on the day it was released.
Fans flooded comic book stores all over the country to pick up a copy of the new comic last Wednesday, resulting in all the copies being sold and leaving some fans lacking. Dark Horse clearly was not expecting such a tremendous amount of sales when it printed and shipped the comic to stores.
To make up for the lack of copies, Dark Horse and EA plan to print more copies of the comic to fill the demand.
Dark Horse’s Comic Con 2008 signings, events schedule
In case you are one of the lucky 100,000+ people able to get into the Comic Con 2008 doors, you might want to head over to the Dark Horse Comics booth. The company that’s keeping Star Wars comics in print, as well as making Hellboy a household word, has a huge list of talent that will be signing stuff at the booth.
Dark Horse has declared Friday (July 25, 2008) “Star Wars Day,” so there will be Star Wars comic talent there all afternoon. While all of the appearances are notable, the most recognizable names to the general public (many of whom will also be in panel discussions) include Mike Mignola, Joss Whedon, Neil Patrick Harris, Nathan Fillion, Felicia Day and Bruce Campbell. Noe that some of the signings/appearances do require a paid ticket.
For those who like to wait in line, here’s a complete list (all times are in Pacific Time)…
