Batman 20th Anniversary Salute: Ten most popular Batman games released since 1989
Remember 20 years ago? OK, so maybe some of you don’t but that was when Batman starring Michael Keaton was released, helping to Bat-rocket launch the popularity of comic book-based movies. To honor the anniversary, Gamertell is looking back at the many Batman video games released throughout the years.
Here’s a chronological look back at 10 of the most popular (although not necessarily the best) Batman games released since 1989.
Gamertell Review: Lego Batman: Gotham City Games for iPhone, iPod Touch
Put all expectations out of your mind right now that this is anything like the console games. It is not an action, peg gathering multiplayer game.
Instead, this is a collection of several familiar single-player minigames covered in cute Lego slash DC Comics style Bat-skins that range from challenging and fun to simply frustrating.

Lost Planet movie will have Dark Knight-sized budget
Capcom wants to make big moves with its original properties, seeing the Resident Evil film series as a model for how successful its games can become in Hollywood. Capcom Head of Character Content Business, Toshihiro Tokumaru, mentioned that the budget for the Lost Planet movie is between $150-200 million.
That puts it in the neighborhood of Warner Bros. blockbuster The Dark Knight, which cost…

Dark Knight coming to home video December 9, 2008
While I’m in a BatMood, Waner Home Video today (September 26, 2008) announced that Dark Knight will be available on Blu-Ray and DVD on December 9, 2008.
Since Dark Knight was partially shot using IMAX cameras, the Blu-Ray release will include IMAX and regular ol’ HD footage. Warner is going whole hog with the Blu-Ray and including BD-Live features which, according to the press release, “allows users with web-enabled Blu-ray players to access exciting additional content and connect and share with other BD-Live users…”
Rumor: Dark Knight game not dead, just hibernating
You may have read in an earlier story here on the tell that the Dark Knight video game was axed . Alas, there is faint hope for the caped crusader fans that a game exist and indeed is in the works.
Our lovely friends over at Kotaku have scored an interview with a source who has played the game and given details and problems that the new developers, Pandemic, are running into.
First, a few…

Comcast’s Dark Knight online Flash game
If you are a Batman fan, loved The Dark Knight movie and cannot wait to play the movie-based videogame, well, you pretty much have to keep waiting waiting. But, if you can settle for an online Flash game based on the movie, Comcast has posted Gotham City Street Chase for you to play.
The game is a pretty straightforward side-to-side shooter, where you dodge oncoming cars and blast vans driven by the Joker’s henchmen, who are also tossing bombs a you. Periodically crash the BatPod through crates for extra life and extra points so you can…
Gamertell Review: The Dark Knight the movie
Title: The Dark Knight (aka Batman: The Dark Knight, Batman Begins 2, The Dark Knight: The IMAX Experience)Release Date: July 18, 2008Company: Warner Bros.Rating: PG-13Length: 142 min (2 hours, 22 minutes)Pros: A lot of great acting, a well-woven story and plenty of psychological creepiness. The more realistic Gotham City is a well-executed contrast to the inner darkness of the characters.Cons: A little long and a bit too creepy for kids. Only one moment of unbelievability.Overall Score: Two thumbs up; 93/100; A-; * * * * out of five.
Put away your illusions that this is a big-screen adaptation of Frank Miller’s graphic Novel, The Dark Night Returns. While there is a tiny nod or two to the book, this is continuation of the Batman Begins film with a new origin of at least one DC Comics character and a more realistic, visually brighter yet thematically darker take on Batman.

Sneak Peak: The Dark Knight movie
I attended an advance screening of the IMAX version of The Dark Night this evening. While I cannot give you a full review yet, here’s what I can tell you about Warner Bros. latest Batman flick without any major spoilers:
- Gotham City is pretty much modern New York City. No plasticky looking buildings or the gritty, gothic look of the previous films.
- The mood is likewise. More realistic and less cartoony or overly themed.
- At least one main character…
