OnLive treats you to Darksiders this Halloween

As the weekend began to kick off, OnLive provided users in the United States and United Kingdom unlimited access to four games. OnLive promised a special fifth game would be offered on Halloween for its Facebook fans, and decided to let the cat out of the bag a bit early. The mystery game turned out to be Darksiders.

THQ Store sale discounts 35 PC games and expansions

The weekend is basically here. As usual, this is the time where we scour the web looking for great gaming deals. Fortunately, this OnLive deal found me. OnLive is discounting three THQ published games for today, Saturday and Sunday. OnLive is keeping the sale prices a secret until they go live, but I already like what I see.

United Arab Emirates bans Sony’s Heavy Rain

The forecast for gamers in the United Arab Emirates calls for a zero percent chance of Heavy Rain. Sony’s anticipated true crime blockbuster that puts players on the trail of the “Origami Killer” is banned in the UAE (Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm al-Quwain, Ras al-Khaimah and Fujairah) due to its mature content.

This is the second title in 2010 to receive such treatment, as THQ’s apocalyptic adventure Darksiders was banned as well. In that game, War, one of the Horsemen of the Apocalypse, investigates a conspiracy that prematurely brought on Armageddon.

Notable January 2010 video game releases (a polite reminder)

The tail end of 2009 was originally full of high-profile releases that were eventually pushed back. Some may say Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is the chief reason publishers decided to push some of their games to January 2010 and beyond.
