The Force is delicious with icing on top
You would be amazed how something as simple as a themed cookie can turn a day around. Maybe that whole thing with the Death Star would have never happened if someone had been in the kitchen baking up a batch of these. The next time you’re feeling down, eat the blues away with some Star Wars cookies.

Shortly after The Bitbag suggested that exclusive Soul Calibur IV characters will be made more widely available, and moments after Siliconera reported that Japanese Soul Calibur IV owners will be able to purchase and download the missing Star Wars character for their game, Namco Bandai release a press release confirming that this offer will be available to North American players as well. On October 23, 2008, Japanese and North American players will be able to purchase the missing character from the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live.
Gamertell Review: Star Wars: The Force Unleashed Mobile
Title: Star Wars: The force Unleashed MobilePrice: $13.49 (N-gage pricing: 1 Day for $2.99, 7 Days for $6.99, Full Version for $13.49)System(s): Mobile (includes *N-Gage, iPhone, iPod Touch)Release Date: September 16, 2008Publisher (Developer): THQ Wireless (Universomo)ESRB Rating: Not RatedPros: Really nice graphics, classic Star Wars sound effects and innovative CellWeaver control scheme.Cons: Physical design of device’s buttons truly effects the enjoyment and playability. Unskipable cutscenes, Midi soundtrack is instead of MP3. No lightsaber slashing action. Very short.Overall Score: One thumb up, one thumb down; 78/100; C+; * * 1/2 out of five.
For the Mobile version of this much-publicized Star Wars game, the developers took a cue from the DS release and created a unique control scheme based on the physical nature of the system. All the smartphone incarnations of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed Mobile rely on the phone’s number pad to tap out patterns to activate various Force powers. On the iPhone and iPod Touch, you use the touchscreen to draw similar patterns.
It’s innovative and sometimes fun but not quite the action-filled, lightsaber slashing game you’d expect from the Star Wars franchise.

Gamertell Review: Star Wars: The Force Unleashed for DS
Title: Star Wars: The Force UnleashedPrice: $34.99System(s): DS (PS2, PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, PSP)Release Date: September 16, 2008Publisher (Developer): LucasArtsESRB Rating: “Teen” for fantasy violence.Pros: Unique touchscreen control scheme, decent graphics and the usual amazing Star Wars score and settings. Two multiplayer modes.Cons: Locked camera and direction control issues.Overall Score: One thumb up, one thumb sideways; 84/100; B; * * * out of five.
LucasArts decided to conquer the task of creating a Nintendo DS version of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed by not creating a simple port but, instead, a slightly different take utilizing the Nintendo DS’s unique touchscreen, using he same core story and adding some missions, a few new opponents and a multiplayer mode. The result is a decent game with an interesting controls scheme although it is not nearly as engrossing or addictively enjoyable as the big brother version

Swag of the Day: Soulcalibur IV Xbox 360 faceplates
Although I wasn’t able to scoop up the swag at this year’s E3 or Comic Con, I still did manage to get an unexpected gift from Namco Bandai. Packed with my press copy of the game, they nicely included a pair of Soulcalibur IV-themed Xbox 360 faceplates. A themed faceplate was offered as an incentive (aka premium) for gamers who pre-ordered Soulcalibur IV from certain retailers.
The first is a green faceplate featuring the little green guru himself, Yoda, who is a playable character it the Xbox 360 version of the game (Darth Vader’s in the PS3 version of the game).
The second is more blue with crystal emanating from the power button like an explosion and the faded face of…
Important Importables Mini: Darth Vader and R2D2 USB hubs
JList is now taking preorders for two new, Star Wars USB hub characters – R2D2 and Darth Vader. They are pretty much decorative statues that move, light up and make noises. Both items are expected to be released in Japan before the end of July 2008, but people can preorder one (or both) of the $75 items to make sure they’ll get one.
While both R2D2 and Darth Vader look cool, they do have an addition function. Each one has four additional USB ports – very handy in an age where practically every computer peripheral attaches via a USB port. In fact, this could be an essential for a desktop owner, so you don’t have to stretch around to reach for an outlet. The computer powers each of them, so no batteries are needed, and they work with Macs and PCs.
