Exclusive Review: FIFA Street 3 soundtrack

As part of Gamertell’s exclusive look at the music behind FIFA Street 3, we received an early version of the game’s soundtrack to review.

Die hard fans of groove music and football (not the American kind) will be mightily pleased with EA Canada’s new entry into the FIFA Street series. Scheduled for release on February 18, 2008, the game features a bevy of phat beats and Gamertell was lucky enough to get an exclusive early listen.

The soundtrack features more than thirty songs and by more than twenty artists, most of whom are international or world music performers…

Exclusive Interview: Datarock’s Fredrik Saroea

When Electronic Arts’ music department selected Norwegan band Datarock for its upcoming game, FIFA Street 3, it was a match between gaming and music made in heaven. Datarock’s unique sound, created by Fredrik Saroea and friends Ketil Mosnes and Kevin O’Brien (O’Brien left the group in 2000), has been featured on the soundtracks of games including Need for Speed and Madden NFL 08.

In an exclusive interview with Fredrik Saroea (Ketil Mosnes was not available at the time), I had a chance to ask him about his group’s unique brand of music. Despite a few language hurdles, there was plenty of fun and laughter as we tried to find the right words to understand what Datarock music was all about. He said that the band is inspired by a lot of different styles ranging from 1977 to the ’90s although the origin of Datarock’s sound came about quite by accident.

DataRock patiently waiting for your questions

Later this week Gamertell is going to have an exclusive interview with musical group Datarock. Sure, we’ll post what they say but we’ll offer you one better. We’re going to let you ask them questions, too. Click through and post your questions for Datarock (as a comment) by January 31, 2008, and we’ll send the best of the bunch to the band to answer.
