E3 2011: Dead Rising 2: Off the Record puts Frank West back on the case
Capcom raised more than a few eyebrows when it announced Dead Rising 2: Off The Record, a game that unleashes Frank West on Fortune City.
The game is an adventure that places West, the hero of Dead Rising, in the setting of Dead Rising 2. This is West’s second appearance related to the Fortune City zombie outbreak. West previously teamed with DR2 star Chuck Greene in Case West, a standalone downloadable game.

The year of the zombie couldn’t very well end without an appearance from Frank West. The star of Capcom’s Dead Rising returns in Case West, a standalone downloadable game that teams him up with DR2′s Chuck Greene. Chuck has been framed for the Fortune City zombie incident, while West is still tracking down the conspiracy he discovered in Willamette. The answers will be found in a remote (and no doubt undead-filled) facility near Fortune City. This could be the beginning of a beautiful, zombie-slaying friendship. The Dead Rising franchise continues with Dead Rising 2: Case West on December 27, 2010. Case West is a Xbox 360 exclusive downloadable game, and takes place after the events of Dead Rising 2. Frank West will make his return as a co-op partner and he’s bringing his camera along for the ride. All you need to do is fork over the 800 Microsoft Points to buy the game.

Just as the Citizens for Undead Rights and Equality (aka C.U.R.E) believe zombies are just misunderstood, so it is with Dead Rising 2. At first, I didn’t much care for the game but, as I kept playing and learned what was really going on, I gained an appreciation for the excellent design.

I think it’s fair to say Dead Rising 2 didn’t bomb. It still carries with it that love it or hate it mentality, but it does improve upon some of the original Dead Rising‘s setbacks. After a lot of promotions and positive reviews, Capcom announced it has shipped 2 million units of Dead Rising 2 around the world.

Dead Rising’s heroes have donned everything from strait jackets to Servbot helmets to mow down zombies. The Soldier of Fortune DLC for Dead Rising 2 allows protagonist Chuck Greene to make like one of The Expendables.
Dead Rising 2′s Burt the zombie has found a home
Isn’t it great when lovable zombies find a home to call their own? Burt is one such lucky undead creature. Burt is the special prize for one person who bought the Dead Rising 2 High Stakes Edition. In addition to the game, the High Stakes Edition came packaged with a bunch of cool stuff that included a poker set, map to Fortune City, and code for some DLC. One set in particular however, contained a golden ticket that was redeemable for a 6-foot tall zombie statue named Burt.
