Dead Space: Extraction isn’t selling
The NPD Group, a market research company in North America, has just released sales data on Dead Space: Extraction for September, 2009. And, while Dead Space: Extraction was only out for five days of NPD’s September reporting period, the news still isn’t good. From September 29 to October 3, 2009, Dead Space: Extraction sold only 9,000 copies.
While there’s still hope that EA and Visceral Games’ Mature-rated, first person shooter could sell well in October, and perhaps even over the 2009 holiday season, chances are it won’t see the success of the previous Dead Space game. Just as a brief example, the Xbox 360 version of Dead Space, which launched October 13, 2008, sold 193,000 units in October, 2008 according to NPD data.
Visceral Games seems quite disappointed by the sales figures so far. That is, if you go by posts from a Visceral staff member going by the name “codecow” on the NeoGAF forums. As GoNintendo reported…
EA’s ready for GamesCom 2009
EA is also among the major companies ready to step up and support GamesCom 2009. And the company’s going to be putting on quite a show. It is bringing 42 games across all platforms to display, including the iPhone.
There are a number of highlights to check out, from the extraordinary amount of games being displayed, to a special press conference (which you can watch online via live stream), an exclusive closed door area with special games being shown, a booth set up just for Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning and the demo debut of Star Wars: The Old Republic.
Let’s look at the list of games EA is bringing along, in some shape or form, in alphabetical order…
E3 2009: The 10 best games announced for the Wii
E3 2009 is all over now and the games have all been announced. It’s time to look at the best of the best, specifically for the Wii.
There were a ton of games announced at E3 that all look very good, so I limited it to the best ten, which really only makes this a sampling. Games are listed in no particular order.
Dead Space prequel appearing on the Wii in Fall 2009
We knew Dead Space was coming to the Wii, but I don’t think anyone expected it to be arriving in the form of an all new, exclusive game. That’s right PS3 and Xbox 360 owners who were gloating over how wonderfully scary Dead Space was, Wii owners will now get to do the same with Dead Space: Extraction.
EA Redwood Shores is working on the Dead Space prequel, which should be released in the third quarter of 2009. Dead Space: Extraction is going to be an all new experience, detailing the survival efforts of Aegis VII mini colony residents as they try to outlast a deadly infection and it’s repercussions, all while protecting a woman who may help the survivors make it out alive.
Based on some initial images shown in the official Dead Space: Extraction trailer EA released, the game looks pretty promising…
