Rumor: Battlefield 3′s Xbox 360 version will contain two discs
Gematsu is reporting that a Japanese game poster confirms a two-disc Xbox 360 version of Battlefield 3. This has led to speculation that one disc will contain the single-player campaign while the other would house multiplayer. The PS3 version appears, as one would expect, on a single Blu-ray disc. Rumors place the game at 15 gigabytes, around 6 gigabytes more than a 360 disc holds. Games such as L. A. Noire came on multiple discs as well, so this isn’t new territory for 360 owners.
SCEA VP wants less DLC
Dyer understands and supports the idea behind using DLC as a way to lower used game sales. He just wants every gamer to have access to every piece of extra content that becomes available. Dyer’s feelings suggest most if all DLC be available at retail. It’s likely that things such as map packs and episodic expansions will make it onto a separate disc. Smaller DLC such as new costumes or a few cars is a little more tricky to handle.

Retail stores have experimented with different methods to prevent the theft of games in the past. Some stores surround the disc case in a thick plastic prison cell, some have games locked in display cases and others keep the games behind the counter where only employees have access. EMA proposes anti-theft solution for video games, DVDs
DVD and video game theft has always been a problem, especially for games since they are so expensive and a guaranteed resale.
The Entertainment Merchants Association (EMA) is sick of tired of this (as well as everyone else) and is proposing a new device to prevent theft. It’s called “benefit denial technology.” Games and DVDs will be shipped to stores in an inoperable state and, when the game is purchased, it becomes operable again. They also hope to do this for Blu-Ray.
