Good news! Dissidia 012 [duodecim] Final Fantasy is receiving an almost simultaneous worldwide release. The PSP game comes out first in Japan on March 3, 2011, but the North American and European releases aren’t far behind, coming out on March 22 and March 25, 2011. Square Enix is working on Dissidia Duodecim: Final Fantasy

Square Enix is working on more than just Final Fantasy XIII: Agito and The 3rd Birthday for the PSP. The newest issue of the Japanese manga magazine Weekly Shonen Jump has revealed that a Dissidia: Final Fantasy sequel is in development. The follow-up will be called Dissidia Duodecim: Final Fantasy and it will debut in Japan sometime in 2011.

Information on Dissidia Duodecim: Final Fantasy is slim, at the moment, but two of the new playable characters have been revealed. Lightning will appear, representing FFXIII, and Kain will appear representing FFIV.

Eight things I’ve learned from Dissidia: Final Fantasy

Dissidia: Final Fantasy is, inarguably, a fantastic game. At the same time, it shares a commonality with other Square Enix games. There are things in the game that just don’t seem to make any clear sense. Or at least, they wouldn’t make sense in a real world situation. But that’s part of the fun of a Square Enix game, things don’t have to make sense.

Back when Crisis Core: Final Fantasy came out, it proved to be both a fun and learning experience. It’s no surprise that Dissidia had a few things to teach players as well…

Gamertell Review: Dissidia: Final Fantasy for PSP

2009 is an amazing year for PSP games. Thanks to Square Enix, NIS America and Atlus, current PSP owners and those who’ve chosen to adopt the PSPgo have had a substantial selection of games to enjoy. Dissidia: Final Fantasy, a fighting game with RPG elements, is easily among the top five PSP games of 2009, and is probably among the top 10 games in general released in 2009.

Two two gods Cosmos and Chaos, have been locked in battle for near eternity. Cosmos is the goddess of light, and Chaos of darkness. This eternal battle keeps the balance of light and dark in check. Both have summoned warriors to represent them and, for the first time, Chaos has overpowered Cosmos. So, the world is on the verge of collapse since darkness has decimated light.

There is still hope, though. The ten heroes summoned by Cosmos, from Final Fantasy I-X, have been told to find the 10 crystals…

Dissidia tentatively dated for North America

Well, my day is officially made. Square Enix has just announced that yes, of course they’ll be bringing Dissidia: Final Fantasy to North America, and we should all be expecting it by the middle of 2009. Sure, there was probably never any doubt it would receive a worldwide release, but its good to see that it will be coming to us fairly quickly.

In Dissidia, we learn that there is trouble between the goddess of harmony Cosmos and the god of discord Chaos. A war has always been brewing between them, but it was natural and no problem, since the two sides possessed an equal amount of power. But now, Chaos’ army of warriors has proved stronger than the force summoned by Cosmos. Players must step in as well known Final Fantasy characters to fight and restore the balance. It turns out that Limit Breaks and Overdrives will return as EX Bursts and that you will also be able to summon Aeons to assist your fighter during a battle.

The full cast list as as follows…

Square Enix unleashes good and evil Dissidia: Final Fantasy potions

Have you ever wondered if your beverage had an affinity towards good or evil? If you decide to drink one of Suntory’s Dissidia: Final Fantasy potions from Japan, created to promote Square Enix’s latest PSP game, you’ll know right away what side your drink’s on – Cosmos (good) or Chaos (bad). Cosmos potions have a clear yellow color, while Chaos are a clear black.

JBox is carrying the Dissidia potions right now. You can pay $4 and receive a single can of either the “grapefruit flavored” Cosmos potion or the “muscat flavored” Chaos potion. Has anyone ever heard of muscat before? Me either. You can also pay $32 and either get a complete set of Chaos or Cosmos cans. Each can has an illustration on it, so that’s probably the drink’s main draw. If you go with a single can, you can’t specify what character you want – you’ll just be sent a random can of the drink.

Especially interesting is the little “experiment” shown on Neocrisis, which clearly depicts both drinks. It poses the question what happens when an evil beverage and a good beverage combine…
