Sony Online Entertainment’s made a fun Free Realms announcements today! Before we get to that though, if you want to still take part in that $29.99 lifetime membership deal, where you would get a member’s subscription for as long as Free Realms runs, you only have a few hours left! The deal will end today, August 16, 2010 at 12pm PDT. It’s about 9:45am PDT as I write this, so you really only have about two hours left!

On to the fun news – Domo-kun is appearing in Free Realms…

About a year ago, Gamertell’s Important Importables talked about Japanese mascots who’ve gotten their own video games. One of the mascots was Domo, the Nippon Hoso Kyokai (NHK) network mascot – a big brown, friendly monster whose mouth is perpetually open and says only, “Domo.” Last year, Domo was the Halloween mascot for Target stores. This year, he’s working for 7-Eleven.

The 7-Eleven and Domo collaboration is going to last from October 1, 2009 until approximately November 12, 2009. To make it easier, let’s just say you have until the second week of November to stop by your local 7-Eleven if you want to see Domo or pick up some Domo related goodies. You may only just be noticing the promotion now though – my local 7-Eleven only started stocking the Domo items this past Monday.

Here’s what you can expect to see if you stop by 7-Eleven while the promotion is running. There are going to be lots of Domo display items. Domo’s going to appear on all kinds of coffee and slurpee cups, and there will be special, limited drinks in honor of Domo. There will be little accessories, figurines, collectable straws…
