Sony finally announces a UMD conversion program

Way back when the PSPgo was released, one of the biggest concerns regular PSP owners had involved their old UMD collection. The PSPgo was all digital, so any games that were owned on UMD had to be purchased and downloaded for the PSPgo. The same question was asked of Sony in relation to the Vita. At long last, Sony has a way for Japanese Vita owners to register their old UMDs and obtain a digital copy of their games in return. However, this service is not free.

Vita owners may be able to turn UMDs into download discounts

It looks like upgrading your PSP collection to go Vita may end up costing early adopters some money. Sony’s been hinting at ways to turn PSP UMDs into compatible Vita downloads for the last few months, and it seems like there’s now a more solid vision of how this plan will work. Dengeki PlayStation magazine talked to Sony’s Yoshio Matsumoto and people may be able to redeem UMDs towards PlayStation Store purchases.

GameStop will sell download codes for PC games

GameStop is taking another step to ensure it isn’t left behind in this ever-increasing digital world. GameStop will start selling digital copies of PC games in its stores starting in August 23 with Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Customers can pre-order Deus Ex: Human Revolution right now using a variety of payment methods.

inFamous 2 comes to PSN as a full download

You no longer have to leave the house to play the full version of inFamous 2. Sony just put the full game in the PlayStation Store for immediate download. It is selling for the normal retail price of $59.99. You can probably find the game for a little cheaper somewhere online, but chances are you won’t save more than a few bucks.

Redeem your PSN Welcome Back package now [Update]

The contents of Sony’s Welcome Back program for PSN and Qriocity users has gone live in the United States. To refresh, Sony is giving us a choice to download two free PS3 and PSP games. That’s four games combined. We’re also getting 30 days of PlayStation Plus and Qriocity service. If you currently subscribe to PS Plus, you’ve gotten a 60 service extension at no extra cost. Current Qriocity subscribers are getting an additional 30 days of service.

E3 2011: Minority introduces Papo & Yo

There’s going to be a new game funded by the Sony Pub Fund at E3 2011 this year, an ambitious project called Papo & Yo. Minority has been using Sony’s support to create a downloadable puzzle and adventure game that tasks players with balancing a creature named Monster’s needs while also helping a boy named Quico get through a number of tasks so he can save Monster.

Steam Daily Deals will tempt your wallet every day

As if it wasn’t hard enough to resist Steam’s insane sales, Valve is going to make sure we visit Steam every day from now on to check on the latest daily deal. Valve announced Steam Daily Deals this week and will offer a big discount on a specific game every day. There will still be other sales going on, but Steam Daily Deals will only be available for 24 hours.

Blue Toad Murder Files Episode 1 is temporarily free on PSN

PS3 owners in North America, Europe and Australia need to visit the PlayStation Store this month. There’s a free game waiting for you. Relentless Software wants to get people interested in and excited about Blue Toad Murder Files, so they’re giving away The Mysteries of Little Riddle, the first episode of this episodic adventure game, for free. Next time you get some spare time, head to the store and grab it.
